What’s the worst thing you’ve done for an achievement?

In the latest edition of Ask RPS, our new mailbag feature where RPS supporters pose us questions that we then answer in public posts for everyone to enjoy, we’re turning our gaze to that loved and loathed staple of the video gaming landscape: achievements. Ah, achievements. Never mind if they’re good or bad. Today, we’re remembering the terrible things we’ve done to actually get them.
The question comes courtesy of Fachewachewa, who asked: What’s the worst thing you’ve done for an achievement? Or more generally, a time you were focused on a specific goal in a game, reached it (or gave up), and after, looked back and thought, “Why did I do that?”
Why, indeed. Come and find out which achievements have spawned our biggest gaming regrets, and why not tell us about your own gaming follies in the comments? We can all wallow in our foolishness together.
Games Done Quick’s All-Women Event Frost Fatales Raises $150,000 For Malala Fund
After a week of speedrunning, Games Done Quick’s latest event Frost Fatales wrapped up on March 4 with over $150,000 raised for Malala Fund, a charity benefiting girls’ education around the world.
Frost Fatales is an all-women winter speedrunning event, with sister event Flame Fatales running each summer. This year’s event featured over 65 different speedruns by members of the community, with nine of those runs hosted in-studio with in-person couch commentary. Full VODs from the event are now available on GDQ’s YouTube channel.
The all-women marathons are run by the Frame Fatales, a community for women interested in speedrunning, charity events, and gaming. This year’s winter event had 16 Frame Fatales members working in the studio to manage the production side of the marathon.
I tried the ‘glowy blush’ hack with Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty – I should’ve done it sooner, people say I look flawless
SELENA Gomez’s makeup line may be wildly popular but the brand creator also has a few tricks up her sleeves as well.
Selena took to social media to share a personal makeup trick, adding highlighter to blush for a dewy look, that went viral.

She layered the Rare Beauty highlighter and blush on top of each other[/caption]
Yazmin (@yazdior), a beauty influencer, put the trick to the test.
To start, she acquired the two main products she needed — the RareBeauty highlighter and blush.
She showed off the blush in the shade Happy and the highlighter in the shade Enchant: “Trying the RareBeauty glowy blush hack,” she said.
Uncapping the blush, she used the doe-foot applicator to place two dots of blush on each side of her cheekbones, then did the same with the highlighter.
Taking a fluffy brush, she blended the products out and immediately gasped in shock when she saw the glowy results.
“I should’ve tried this sooner,” she said.
People took to the comments to share their thoughts.
Others were initially worried about how much blush she applied, knowing that a little bit of the RareBeauty blush goes a long way.
“THAT WAS SO MUCH BLUSH BYE,” said one commenter.
“That was a dangerous amount,” agreed another.
Others were worried she had leaked a hidden makeup trick.
“DON’T TELL MY SECRET,” joked one makeup enthusiast.
“But for real it’s the best blush highlight combo, I was always doing this when I was working at Sephora.”
“So flawless, I love,” said another.
