Husband found his dying wife, critically injured step-daughter & baby grandson after they were hit by car walking to pub
A DEVASTASTED husband found his dying wife, his critically injured step-daughter and grandson lying on the street after a horrific car crash, a court heard.
Husband Matthew Bowden discovered the tragic scene in Dorset after a “cruel turn of fate” saw him as the first to arrive.

Mr Bowden found his wife, step-daughter and grandson dying[/caption]
Nicole Bowden, her daughter Emily Fox-Williams and her 11-month-old grandson were walking to their local pub in Mosterton when they were hit by an out-of-control Mercedes.
Mr Bowden found Nicole dying and his daughter and grandson suffering from extensive injuries when he arrived to the scene on February 8.
All three were quickly airlifted to hospital in Bristol, where Nicole later passed away, Poole Magistrates’ Court heard.
Emily remains in hospital and unresponsive, but her baby boy is expected to recover.
The alleged driver, Shane Bovey, was taken to hospital before being charged with death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a road traffic collision.
He is also charged with causing death by driving a vehicle while uninsured, causing death by driving a vehicle while unlicensed, aggravated vehicle taking and making threats to kill.
Mr Bovey’s lawyer indicated he would deny that his client was the individual driving the Mercedes.
In court, lawyers heard how a turn cruel of fate meant Nicole’s husband and step-son discovered the gruesome scene.
Prosecutor Leah Dillon told the court: “The victims were walking, perhaps even still in their driveway, to the pub. Nicole, her daughter and 11-month-old were all flown to hospital in Bristol.
“I’m not going to go into what the scene was like, but for her husband one can’t imagine how that was.”
Mr Bovey will remain in custody until March 16 after his bail was refused. The case was sent to crown court.
Around 180 people attended a church service held in memory of Mrs Bowden at Mosterton Church last Sunday.
At a memorial service, Reverend Canon said: “We had about 180 people attend – a large number from the village but from all over, really, and quite a few from Yeovil as well.
“They really welcomed what we were doing and appreciated, I think, the space we were giving them and the fact we had done something.
“There’s nothing I can say that will replace the loss of an individual or change what has happened but we gathered as a community and we grieved as a community.”
