This Air-fried banana bread is super easy and pretty tasty
My ideal breakfast is a fried egg on a charred corn tortilla with hot sauce. I prefer something savory with a little heat. Sweet isn’t usually my thing. So a banana bread recipe from TikTok wasn’t really up my alley. It seemed like an easy breakfast but maybe not the breakfast for me.
After trying it, I have to admit it’s a pretty great little recipe. Sure, it’s uncomplicated and not really a banana bread recipe. It’s more akin to banana toast. But the TikTok from user @sammymontgoms combines bread, peanut butter, and bananas into an easy little snack or breakfast. What could be bad, right? It’s racked up some 4.6 million views, so people definitely like it. Here’s what you need to know to make it for yourself.
Ingredients
-
Bread, however many slices you like
-
1 banana
-
peanut butter
-
maple syrup or honey
-
cinnamon
Directions
-
Spread the peanut butter on the bread, making sure to cover it end-to-end.
-
Slice the banana length-wise, so you have long, thing strips of banana.
-
Lay the banana strips across the peanut-butter-covered bread to, again, cover the entire slice.
-
Drizzle the honey or maple syrup over the bread.
-
Sprinkle cinnamon over the bread.
-
Spray your air fryer basket with nonstick spray.
-
After preheating, air fry at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Remove from the air fryer and enjoy!
The details
I mean…let’s be real…you get what to do here. You put peanut butter on bread. Then you put bananas on bread. You drizzle and sprinkle. You air fry and eat. Easy peasy. Here’s how it looked for @sammymonygoms.
Credit: Screenshot: TikTok / @sammymontgoms
And here is how at looked when I made the recipe.

The verdict? I’ll likely stick with my savory breakfast, but if you’re into sweet meals, this is a great option. The high heat of the air fryer does a great job of caramelizing the bananas and honey, giving each bite a charred, sticky quality. It’s reminiscent of bananas foster.
The end product is not overly sweet either, like many other TikTok recipes. It avoids the cloying pratfalls like this bagel recipe with cream cheese, sugar, and honey, for instance. There’s some balance to it. And it’s pretty hearty with the bread and peanut butter.
I think it’s a great option if you want something sweet that you can take on the go. And it takes just more than five minutes to make. In conclusion: It’s not really banana bread. But it couldn’t be easier to make, and it tastes pretty dang good. I’ll take it.
Google will soon offer an easy way to share files between your own Android devices
Google has announced a slew of Android updates that should make phones and tablets more useful for many people. One of the more notable changes is for Nearby Share, Google’s version of Apple’s AirDrop, which should make transferring files between your own Android devices a cinch. After you opt in to the self-share feature, your Android devices will automatically accept files from each other, even if the screen is off. So, you may soon no longer need to email a file from your phone to your tablet or Chromebook. The self-share option should be available in the next few weeks.
It’s not clear when you’ll be able to check out some of the other freshly announced features, which include more accessibility settings. Android has a feature called sound notifications that’s designed to help those in the deaf and hard of hearing community. When the feature is enabled, it can listen for sounds like fire alarms, door knocks and running water, and alert the user to them with a visual notification or vibration on a phone or watch. Soon, users will be able to add custom sounds to their alert library. They’ll be able to record audio from appliances and so forth, and receive notifications when their device hears that sound again.
Google TV now has a selection of movies with audio descriptions. You can find these through Google Assistant by saying “Search audio description movies.” Moreover, Google is adding a multi-pinning option to Meet video calls. This will enable users to pin feeds from, for instance, the speaker and a sign language interpreter — or maybe a friend to see their reaction to what’s being said a little more clearly.
SharePlay-style options are coming to Meet as well. You’ll be able to watch YouTube videos and play games with up to 100 friends and family members simultaneously. Google says this feature is rolling out to Android phones and tablets.
On top of those changes, you can expect updated Drive and Keep widgets, more Emoji Kitchen mashups on Gboard and a way to stuff more emoji into your messages with a tap (or, in other words, “emojify” whatever you’re typing). On Wear OS devices, there will be a new Keep tile — with the option to dictate a note or checklist — while Snapchat’s Bitmoji is coming to watch faces.
I’m a DIY lover – 12 easy Dollar Tree projects to get you ready for Fall and Halloween
IF you love decorating for Halloween and watching Hocus Pocus in the fall, these Dollar Tree DIYs are perfect for your home.
In celebration of the sequel to the 1993 Halloween classic, Hocus Pocus Two, coming out on September 30, here are 11 movie-themed projects.
A YouTuber and Hocus Pocus fanatic has shared 11 DIYs to get you in the Halloween spirit[/caption]
These DIYs will make your home scream Halloween while also being cheap, easy, and quick[/caption]
A YouTuber that goes by the name The Weeks Nest DIY has shared her best Hocus Pocus DIYs using Dollar Tree items.
HOCUS POCUS HAUNTED HOUSE
First up in the video was a small haunted house that is Hocus-Pocus-themed.
The Youtuber, Nicole, took a faux book stack found in the seasonal section of the Dollar Tree and attached a printable image (she used her Cricut machine) that read: “Hocus Pocus.”
She then took an old doll house roof that she had from another project, painted it black, and attached it to the book stack to make it look like a haunted house.

To make the house look more worn down, she took a dry brush with tan acrylic paint and brushed it over the whole house.
SPELL BOOK-MARK
For this DIY you will need some fake Halloween roses with faux eyeballs in them and a roll of faux leather from Dollar Tree.
Take a strip of the leather fabric, fold it over, and hot glue the two sides together to make the bookmark.
Then, take a faux eyeball from the rose bunch and hot glue it onto the center-right side of the bookmark.

Add hot glue around the eyeball, enough to make it look like eyelids.
Nicole also used the hot glue gun to make lines that look like stitches, along with a binding line on the left of the bookmark.
She then used acrylic paint to give the bookmark a more worn look.
Using a sponge brush, she painted over the bookmark with brown paint. The end result should look like the spell book from the Hocus Pocus movie.
Don’t forget to paint over the glue used to make the eyelid.
Finally, take a dry brush with some light tan paint to make the bookmark look more worn down.
PSYCHEDELIC SIGN
A year-round item at the Dollar Tree can turn into a Halloween decoration with a little elbow grease.
Nicole found a circular sign that reminded her of a fortune teller’s crystal ball.
She attached blue and purple marble cardstock to the sign with a glue stick. Over the cardstock, she placed a printable that read: “I see a Hocus Pocus movie night in your future.”
SPELL ON YOU
This DIY involves two wooden trays from the Dollar Tree that Nicole stacked on top of each other using hot glue.
Before gluing the two trays together, she made more fake stitches and binding lines with the hot glue gun and added faux spiders.
For the spiders, she used party rings that she got from Dollar Tree and cut off the ring part, so the spiders would lay flat.
She then painted the whole thing with black paint and then went over it with a dry brush using light tan paint.
Lastly, she added letter decals that read: “I put a spell on you & now you’re mine.”
BLACK FLAME CANDLE
Dollar Tree sells pillar candles, which are perfect for the Black Flame candle that’s seen in Hocus Pocus.
All you need to do is glue a printable label, which you can find online, onto the candle.
If you prefer a fake candle, Dollar Tree has LED candles that you could paint black.
SISTERS’ PICTURE
Next up is a super simple mirror DIY. Nicole found a gothic-style mirror from the Dollar Tree and turned it into a frame.
All she did was glue a black and white picture of the three Sanderson sisters from the movie onto the face of the mirror.
The frame is a rustic brassy color, but if you prefer a different frame, you can always paint it black or any other color with acrylic paint.
BILLY’S PUMPKIN
For all the Billy Butcherson lovers out there – this one’s for you.
Nicole took a pumpkin sign and spray-painted it black.
She then glued a Billy Butcherson printable onto the center of the pumpkin.
The pumpkin was also dry brushed with light tan acrylic paint to add some texture.
CHOPPING BLOCK
You only need two things for this next DIY – a Dollar Tree cutting board and a printable image.
Nicole glued a picture of the Sanderson sisters to the cutting board and that was it! You can use any image you want for this DIY.
You can either stand the board upright or even hang it with a hook or a nail since Dollar Tree cutting boards have a hole in the handle.
CREEPY PLATE
To make a Hocus Pocus decorative plate, you’ll need a printable, a Dollar Tree plate, and two minutes of your time.
Nicole used a black and white picture of a mirror reflecting an image of a cat. Again, feel free to use any picture you desire.
All she did was hot glue the image onto the plate, but make sure to use cardstock for the printable if you choose to do this DIY.
‘EYE ON YOU’ CANDY BOWL
For this candy bowl, you need to buy a tiny chalkboard sign from Dollar tree and cover it in leather fabric.
Once you’ve hot glued the fabric to the sign, use the same technique as you did for the spell book bookmark.
The only difference for this DIY was the black paint that Nicole used on the hot glue lines.
She then hot glued a black spider web candy bowl to a black pumpkin.
The stem of the pumpkin that is detachable was fed through the bowl and used to prop up the leather spell book sign.
DON’T BE A WITCH
Nicole used a plastic small construction cone and a small plastic plate for a witch hat DIY.
She spray-painted both objects and then glued the bottom of the cone onto the plate.
This small decorative piece can be placed around other Halloween decorations for a nice centerpiece.

Walmart to bring in ‘new and easy’ change for customers from TODAY – and it will streamline your shopping experience
WALMART has introduced a change to its membership program that could enhance your shopping experience.
The box store’s membership program is a fan favorite, and includes free shipping, free delivery, special prices on gas, and more.
The Walmart+ membership only costs $12.95 per month or $98 annually.
But now, that price also includes a new service.
Earlier this week, a new rewards program was announced.
“We know our customers and members are mindfully managing their budgets these days,” Chris Cracchiolo, senior vice president and general manager of Walmart+, said.

“That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new member perk that delivers compounding value: Walmart Rewards.”
Similar to other stores’ programs, shoppers with the Walmart+ membership can now earn rewards when they purchase certain items.
Then, shoppers can apply for cash back on future purchases.
Rewards can be used when shopping on the Walmart app or website.

Be sure to have signed into your Walmart+ account before you shop so that you can then select “clip eligible rewards” when making certain purchases.
These rewards will then be available to apply to future purchases.
You can apply existing rewards online or in-store when you open the Walmart app and tap “Use Walmart Rewards.”
While your earned rewards do not expire, certain items that carry rewards must be purchased before those deals expire.
The announcement of the rewards program comes on the heels of other changes to the Walmart+ membership program.
Walmart has teamed up with InHome Delivery Service to offer a streamlined shopping experience.
Now, members can have their groceries delivered straight to their home – or even their fridge – by a Walmart associate.
The addition of this service to a Walmart+ membership costs an extra $7 per month or $40 per year.
Walmart also just announced that starting next month, members will receive access to the Paramount+ streaming service.
I’m a gardening pro – you’re to blame for the mosquitoes in your yard but there are easy steps to get rid of them
MOSQUITOES seem to be difficult to avoid during the warmer months, but one gardening expert suggests there’s a reason you have them in your backyard.
Gardening columnist Jessica Damiano suggests a few easy tips for homeowners to follow in order to reduce or completely remove those unwanted pests.
According to Jessica Damiano, a Cornell University master gardener, a breeding environment for mosquitos could be one-quarter inch of water[/caption]
Damiano explains how people are to blame when mosquitos are around their property because they likely have standing water nearby – something which could be prevented.
However, the blame doesn’t lie on people if they live near a large body of water, like a swamp or a lake.
“Inspect your property for standing water. Even the most diligent among us will likely find water collected in a children’s playset, tire, clogged gutter, pot saucer, overturned trash can lid or flying disc toy,” the expert explains.
“Drain or dump water as you see it, even if the amount appears insignificant, and drill drainage holes in the bottoms of vessels like tire swings.”
According to Damiano, a Cornell University master gardener, a breeding environment for mosquitos could simply be one-quarter inch of water.
And, horrifyingly enough, she warns that female mosquitoes have the ability to lay hundreds of eggs at once.
If you’re someone who lives near ponds or bird baths, she advises people to use bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti),
The biological control agent is a “safe and effective way to kill mosquito larvae,” she adds.
Most read in The Sun
Damiano continues: “Several strains of Bt are available, each targeting different insects, so be sure to buy the israelensis strain to target mosquitoes.
“The product is also effective against black flies and fungus gnats.”
Bti also comes in the form of floating rings called “Mosquito Dunks,” which, according to the CDC “will not harm people, pets and other animals, aquatic life, or other insects, including honeybees.”
She also suggests making a DIY mosquito trap and putting it in a bucket filled with water, to attract mosquitos.
Weeds and overgrown vegetation are other things that attract mosquitoes.
“Running a standing or box fan at high speed will significantly reduce mosquito activity on your porch, deck or patio,” Damiano explains.
“It works by literally blowing the insects away and dispersing our exhaled carbon dioxide, which would otherwise attract them. You’ll keep cooler, too.”
Damiano also reminds her readers that although many people want to get rid of mosquitos, it’s important to know that even though mosquitoes can transmit viruses in certain areas, they do serve as bird food and pollinators.
Some useful tips Damiano recommends are: wear long sleeves and pants, reduce time spent outside during dusk and dawn, follow up with pets’ heartworm prevention treatments, and keep your home door closed so they don’t get inside.
Meanwhile, according to Happy Sprout, a mixture made with basil leaves is a great natural mosquito repellant.
The Happy Sprout experts recommend putting six ounces of fresh basil leaves from the grocery store or garden in a jar and covering them with four ounces of boiling water.
Let the leaves and water sit for four hours, then strain the liquid into a spray bottle, making sure to squeeze all the extra liquid from the leaves.
Finally, add half a cup of vodka or witch hazel to the bottle.
If you want to up the potency, you can also add some drops of basil essential oil – and the mixture can be sprayed directly onto the skin.
And, your porch light or patio lanterns could be to blame for your mosquito bites this summer – here’s what to watch out for.
