Amazon’s new Echo Buds are already on sale — and just a third of the price of its 2021 earbuds
SAVE 20%: Amazon announced new Echo Buds on May 17, and though they’re only available to pre-order at the moment, they’re just $39.99, down $10 from their $49.99 list price. The earbuds will officially be released on June 7.

Amazon dropped some new Echo Buds today (along with a few other Echo devices), and already, they’re on sale. Even better — the markdown puts them at just a third of the price of the 2021 Echo Buds.
Yes, you read that right. The 2023 Echo Buds are available to pre-order at just $39.99 (instead of the full price of $49.99 Amazon announced they would be mere hours ago). That’ll save you 20%, and ensure you a pair of buds that’ll officially release on June 7.
And as we mentioned up top, it’s a huge price cut from the Echo Buds that came out two years ago (now known as the “Echo Buds with Active Noise Cancellation”), which retail for $120 with a wired charging case.
So what’s the difference? The latest buds ditch any noise cancellation, which certainly accounts for the much lower price point. They also have a completely new design, and look much more like generic AirPods-like earbuds with a semi-in-ear fit. Per charge, you’ll get up to five hours of battery life and three additional charges with the case, with 20 hours of battery overall.
You’ll also get multipoint pairing, which allows you to connect with up to two devices at a time, and customizable touch controls for your music, phone calls, and more.
Overall, the new Echo Buds don’t offer a host of exciting features, but they definitely have the foundation to be a solid pair of basic earbuds at a pretty unbeatable price.
UPDATE: May. 17, 2023, 3:05 p.m. EDT This story has been updated to clarify that the 2023 Echo Buds are brand new earbuds, not a third-generation model.

Loki Season 2 Hits Disney Plus This October, Echo To Premiere Full Season In November
Marvel’s Disney+ shows have, to this point, mostly been one-off affairs. Loki has thus far been the sole exception, with Loki’s return being teased in the standard Marvel Studios style with a post-credits teaser. Now, Loki Season 2 has a premiere date, alongside Echo.

Loki Season 2 will pick up sometime after the first season left off, with Loki (Tom Hiddelston), Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), and Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) defying the Time Variance Authority, ruled over by one of the variants of Kang (Jonathan Majors), seen in Loki Season 1 as He Who Remains and in Ant-Man and the Wasp in Quantumania as Kang the Conqueror. Ke Huy Quan (Waymond Wang in Everything Everywhere All at Once) will appear as well.

Amazon’s Echo Show 8 drops to $75 in new smart display sale
If you missed the chance to buy the Echo Show 8 when it was discounted to $75 at the start of April, Amazon has once again reduced the smart display to that price. The $55 cut means the Echo Show 8 is only $5 more than it was during Black Friday last year. If you’ve been eyeing one of Amazon’s larger smart displays, the retailer has also reduced the price of the Echo Show 10 and Echo Show 15. You can get the company’s largest smart display for $214.98, down from $279.98. Meanwhile, the Echo Show 10 is currently priced at $185.
The Echo Show 8 is one of the best smart displays you can buy. While it’s a few years old now, the Show 8 offers a compelling mix of features for an affordable price. Its 8-inch, 1,280 x 800 resolution display is large enough to make viewing photos and taking part in video calls comfortable, but the Show 8’s screen isn’t so large the device will look out of place in your kitchen or bedroom. At the same time, the Show 8’s built-in speakers are powerful enough to fill a small room. And if you’re worried about privacy, the Show 8 ships with a physical camera shutter and mic mute button.

Matter Support Is Coming to More Amazon Echo Speakers
Google started rolling out support for Matter to its smart home devices last year, but Amazon wasn’t ready to flip the switch on its own hardware just yet. That’s now changing, as Matter support is rolling out to some of Amazon’s smart home devices.
