I’m a money saving fanatic – here’s how to do washing up without turning on the hot tap
A MONEY saving fanatic claims to have come up with a way to do the washing up without turning on the hot tap.
Mountains of dirty dishes will be piling up as the festive season gets in full swing.
But as the cost of living crisis bites, many Brits will be considering the expense of cleaning the cutlery with hot water.
TikToker @costoflivingcrisistips is no stranger to the sacrifices being made by households across the country.
That’s why he shares handy hacks to save money on your bills and cut your expenditure around the home.
Sharing his latest piece of advice, the budgeting buff told his 80,000 followers how they could be savvy with their energy use.
He explained people could save money on washing dishes after cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
In the video, the TikToker is seen filling up a container with cold water from the tap.
The money-saving enthusiasts told viewers to put it inside the oven after you have used it to cook your meal.
Despite the appliance not being on, the heat will still remain trapped inside – which will then warm the water up.
The thrifty content creator added: “After a few minutes, it’ll be hot enough to wash the dishes with.”
He then films himself pouring his piping hot water into a washing-up bowl as he prepares to do battle with the dishes.
Social media users were impressed by the tip and flooded the comment section with praise.
One wrote: “Love this but its so sad tips like this even have to exist.”
Another added: “Dishwashers use less water and are far more efficient than washing dishes by hand, but if you don’t have one this is brilliant!”
A third said: “Cool idea!”
And a fourth joked: “Did anyone else think that they were turning the oven off to get a takeaway?”
Others shared their own suggestions for making use of the heat from the oven, such as leaving the door open to warm their homes.
But the TikToker was forced to reiterate his point after some users questioned why he hadn’t simply boiled a kettle.
He responded: “Guys this tip is for after when you have used the oven to cook food.
“Don’t put the oven on just to heat water. Make use of the heat.”

The Amazon delivery driver’s efforts are expected to bag him a new Guinness World Record, after eating 21 of the meat-filled pastries in just 30 minutes.
The Greggs fanatic, from Middlesbrough, celebrated his achievement by getting a tattoo dedicated to the iconic pastry chain.
Sitting in front of 48 sausage rolls at the start of the challenge, John munched his way through nearly half the stack on his way to food-eating history.
John told Teesside Live: “I’ve always loved sausage rolls, after swimming as a kid I always used to have one with tomato sauce and they just remind me of my childhood.

“So doing a sausage roll challenge has been on my radar since I started competitive eating.
“I’m a huge fan of Greggs and have been going as long as I can remember, I even started buying sausage rolls and steak bakes in bulk because I just loved eating them so much.
“The challenge got difficult after number 17 when I started to feel a bit stuffed.

“I actually scolded my mouth on the first one which kind of helped me push through the first lot as the heat didn’t affect me after that.”
John is still awaiting official confirmation of his record, but he decided to get the tattoo anyway to show his “love for Greggs sausage rolls” and his passion for sausage roll eating.

‘I owned 55 Fiats in 84 years of driving and they have given us a lot of happiness’, reveals fanatic
I HAD the pleasure of meeting a lovely old chap called David Franklin the other day.
Turns out he’s had a life-long love affair with all things Italian.
His wife Michela is Italian. She could teach Gino D’Acampo a thing or two in the kitchen.
He likes a cappuccino.
He likes a drop of Italian wine.
But the reason I’m featuring him on these pages today is because of his total dedication to Italian cars.

David has had FIFTY-FIVE of them since starting with a little red 500 in 1963, and he’s never bought anything else.
Now, just shy of 60 years later, he can still be found in a red 500, though it is now an all-electric one.
The retired machine tools boss insists he’s only ever had one breakdown – and that was when a valve spring went on his 850 Coupe in April 1966.
He’s driven all over Europe on family holidays and won countless off-road production car trials. All in a trusty Fiat.
David said: “They have given us a lot of happiness.”
Sounds like we need a top five . . .
‘I’ve enjoyed them all’
David said: “The most practical and useful was the Multipla. It was the ugliest but you could put six people in it. It was a great car.
“And it handled magnificently because it was very wide.
“The new 500e is another one. That’s great fun. I’m 84 and I love putting my foot down and whoosh, off it goes.
“Sometimes my glasses end up on the back seat. I’m sold on the idea of electric cars now. They just need to get the range a bit higher.
“The 850 Coupe was another good car. And the 850 Saloon. The back shelf was wide enough to put the carry cot on. (They use an 850 Saloon on TV’s First Dates Hotel.)
“The 16-valve Tipo was a good one too. That sounded good and went well. My son had a Uno Turbo.
“The truth is, I’ve enjoyed them all. They have all been fun to drive.
“I’ve already been to ask when there’s a bigger 500e coming out.”
I can answer that for you.
Next year.
