I’m a farmer – 5 mistakes first-time gardeners make, including why you shouldn’t plant everything at once
A FARMER has shared his list of the five mistakes many gardeners make when they’re just starting out.
His tips ranged from simple notes to why you shouldn’t plant everything at once.
TikTok user Farmer Froberg (@farmer.froberg) is a fourth-generation farmer and a military veteran.
He also spends his time as an agricultural educator and brings his knowledge to his online audience.
In a TikTok video, he shared five mistakes that gardening newbies often make.
Some were pretty easy to comprehend, while others were more complex.
“Number one, don’t just direct seed everything. Some plants prefer to be transplanted,” he said towards the beginning of the video.
The second mistake new gardeners often make is overwatering.
“To check to see if it’s time to water your established plants, dig around three inches down. And if the soil isn’t moist, don’t water, but if it’s dry, give it a good soaking,” he said.
The third tip pertained to not enough sunlight, and he explained that most plants require around eight hours of sun.
“Number four, quit planting everything at one time,” he declared.
For “cut and done” plants like lettuce, he recommended planting everything in weekly intervals, so you can harvest in weekly intervals.
The last mistake gardeners make is keeping bare soil covered in mulch.
Mulch is any material that is spread or laid over the surface of the soil and used for a covering.
Some good examples of mulch are straw, leaves, and wood chips.
Many people appreciated his advice and offered their own two cents.
“I make all these mistakes over and over. When will I learn?” a fan shared.
“Love the content and I take everything you say seriously,” another added.
“Can you go over which veggies to transplant and which to direct sow?” a viewer inquired.
Jilted farmer stuffed apples into exhaust of Tinder lover’s car after he ended their fling
A JILTED farmer stuffed apples into the exhaust of her Tinder lover’s car.
Melanie Meigh, 20, turned up at Jack McMahon’s home after he ended their on-off fling.
She spray-painted an obscenity on the wall, let down his tyres, sprayed his exhaust and filled it with apples she had grabbed from a tree.
Meigh also stole cash, Mr McMahon’s passport and a set of spanners.
She went on to make taunting phone calls.
Meigh bragged: “Hope you like apples”, “Cheers for the spanners”, and “I have your passport.”
She also damaged his bike and sprayed another obscenity on his mother’s gate.
The couple met on Tinder and were together for three weeks in Tarporley, Cheshire.
Meigh admitted eight charges including harassment.
The court heard she is currently expecting a child by a different man.
Nastasha McAdam, prosecuting, said: “The complainant and the defendant had known each other for approximately three weeks after meeting on Tinder.
“They were not in a real relationship though they were intimate on several occasions.
“The defendant was there with a friend and was abusive and threatening.”
Meigh was given a community order, a £120 fine and told to pay £100 compensation.
She had offences of common assault and battery on her record from February 2021 involving her adopted mother.
Meigh is currently awaiting the results of a DNA test to confirm whether another ex-boyfriend is the father of her unborn child.
Warrington magistrates also imposed a restraining order.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers gets an open beta this week, adds in best characters Farmer and Majin Buu
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is getting an open beta this week, and those with green and pink thumbs will be happy to hear about the addition of Farmer and Majin Buu.
While he’s not the most memorable character in the world, Farmer did appear in a number of the various arcs in Dragon Ball Z, and now Bandai Namco has announced that you’ll be able to play as him in the upcoming Dead by Daylight-like Dragon Ball: The Breakers. Most notably, he has a shotgun, but it probably isn’t all that useful.
Villains wise, considering he’s on the boxart, we generally already knew that Majin Buu was going to be in the game, but the pink blob has been officially confirmed to be coming to the game, with all three of his forms to evolve through. Disgustingly, it looks like that if you do get swallowed up by the Super Buu you can run around his guts, and will possibly have a chance to escape.
