Samsung gets FDA approval for a sleep apnea feature on Galaxy Watch
The Food and Drug Administration has given the green light to a sleep apnea detection feature on Galaxy Watch devices in the US, Samsung has revealed. The company notes this is the first approval of its kind in the US — South Korean officials previously rubberstamped the feature for use in that country.
Samsung plans to add the sleep apnea monitoring tool to compatible Galaxy Watch wearables in the third quarter of this year. It will be available via the Samsung Health Monitor app.
The feature allows those aged 22 and older who have not been diagnosed with the condition to check for signs of sleep apnea using their smartwatch and phone. It looks for signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) over a two-night monitoring period. Users will need to track their sleep for more than four hours twice over a ten-day period to use the feature.
OSA is a common, chronic condition that affects around 25 percent of men and a tenth of women in the US, according to the National Sleep Foundation. Those with the condition tend to stop breathing while they sleep, which can reduce their sleep quality, disrupt oxygen supply and lead to more daytime tiredness. Left untreated, “sleep apnea can compound the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia and stroke,” Samsung notes. The company added that the feature should help more people detect moderate and severe forms of the condition, and for them to seek medical advice when they do.
Other versions of the feature, which ties into Samsung’s other efforts to help its customers have a good night’s sleep, have popped up in devices elsewhere. In 2020, Withings added a sleep apnea detection feature to its sleep tracking mat.

Sketchy Rumor Says Next iPhone SE Will Feature Dynamic Island Instead of Notch
This latest claim comes from the leaker @MajinBuOfficial on X, formerly known as Twitter. In addition to the Dynamic Island, he said the next iPhone SE could have a vertical rear camera bump like the one rumored for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, but with one camera instead of two. Based on the information he shared, the rear microphone and LED flash would be positioned below the camera lens in a pill-shaped bump.
@MajinBuOfficial recently shared alleged iPhone 16 schematics that are believed to be accurate. However, he has a mixed track record with Apple rumors, and he cautioned that this iPhone SE information is still unconfirmed for now. In addition, Apple is likely prototyping multiple iPhone SE models, and it may not have finalized a design.
The next iPhone SE is expected to launch in 2025, around three years after the current model was released, but this timeframe could change.

Meta’s Threads app is getting a bookmarking feature to save posts
Threads is beginning to test a bookmarking feature to allow users to save posts, according to Instagram head Adam Mosseri. The update is beginning as a “limited test,” but the “heavily requested” feature will eventually have a permanent place on the service, the company said.
According to screenshots shared by Meta, the “save” button on Threads will look very similar to Instagram’s version of the feature. Users will be able to access their bookmarked posts from the “save” section of the app’s settings.
While the ability to save posts may not seem like the most exciting update, it will help bring a little more organization to the app. threads currently lacks direct messaging, search filtering, lists and a number of other features often requested by power users looking to replace the functionality of Twitter (now known as X).
Threads recently introduced searchable tags, but Meta has so far resisted adding chronological search or trending features. Mosseri has said chronological search could be easily gamed by spammers, though an “internal prototype” of the feature was recently spotted in the wild. Meta employees have also been spotted sharing images of a feature that looks a lot like trending topics, though it’s unclear what the company’s plans for it may be.
In a statement, a Meta spokesperson said the company “will continue listening to community feedback for ways to improve the Threads experience.” The app has climbed to 130 million monthly users, Mark Zuckerberg revealed last week. He has said that the app has the potential to be the company’s next billion-user service.

Some iPhone 16 Models Rumored to Feature Bigger Batteries
In a new post, Majin Bu claims that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature larger batteries than their predecessors, but the iPhone 16 Plus is set to take a significant step back in terms of battery capacity. The X user also noted that the iPhone 16 Pro Max is moving away from the L-shaped battery design used on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and earlier toward a standard rectangular battery like the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The rumored changes are as follows:
iPhone 15 Lineup (2023) | iPhone 16 Lineup (2024) | % Change | |
---|---|---|---|
[Standard] | 3,349 mAh | 3,561 mAh | +6% |
Plus | 4,383 mAh | 4,006 mAh | -9% |
Pro Max | 4,422 mAh | 4,676 mAh | +5% |
Majin Bu did not disclose any information about the iPhone 16 Pro’s battery. It is not clear why the iPhone 16 Plus’s battery would shrink compared to its predecessor while the iPhone 16’s battery grows, seeing as both devices have an identical feature-set and share many of their components.
While Majin Bu often aggregates and shares information related to Apple’s plans, they do not have a solid track record. As a result, this part of the rumor should be treated with some skepticism until we know more, but it is worth noting that a smaller battery would not necessarily equate to reduced battery life, since there could be efficiency savings elsewhere that prolong battery life.

You heard right: Sonic 3 will feature the series’ best song
Sonic Adventure 2 fans, it’ll soon be your time, as it’s been confirmed that the greatest song from all of the series’ games, Live and Learn, will be in Sonic 3.
Last week, the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was released, mostly just giving us a good look at the game’s logo – as well as some casting confirmations, too. More importantly, though, is the audio that was paired with said trailer. Around halfway through the 20 second teaser, a certain set of notes started playing that sounded an awful lot like Sonic Adventure 2’s main theme, Live and Learn. As someone who has Sonic Adventure 2: Battle as one of their favourite games of all time (no, I’m not joking), I maybe freaked out just a touch, especially considering this is something fans have wanted since the first film. Now, as reported by Aftermath, we also have confirmation that the threequel will feature the iconic song.
Aftermath spoke with Johnny Gioeli, lead vocalist of Crush 40, the band led by longtime Sonic composer Jun Senoue, about the musical teaser, where he confirmed that a deal has been put in place for the track to appear in Sonic 3. “I have indeed signed a deal with Paramount for song placement,” Gioeli said. “How they will use it is strictly up to them. … Paramount now has the legal right to use ‘Live and Learn’. in any manner they feel necessary.” To explain, that means it could just be straight up the original, or it could be a reinterpreted orchestral arrangement like the one heard in the teaser trailer.
