Wild Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning CinemaCon Footage Shows Surprisingly Funny Car Chase
Though none of the cast or crew of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One was around for Paramount’s presentation at CinemaCon on Thursday, attendees were treated to quite a surprise anyway: a 20-minute chunk of the movie.
We should stress, however, that this is not the opening sequence of the film. And so be warned: The descriptions of the clips below could contain spoilers for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
The sequence began with Hayley Atwell’s character, Grace, being held in a police interrogation room and questioned about her identity. She claims to be a school teacher. (She isn’t.) Fortunately for her, Ethan Hunt is pretending to be her lawyer, and is gonna break her out.
A Quiet Place Prequel Footage At CinemaCon Shows How It All Started
Attendees at CinemaCon were treated to the first look at A Quiet Place prequel that shows how the alien attacks began. The movie will focus on a new character played by Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o and helmed by Pig director Michael Sarnoski.
While the film still has a year before release, the footage gave us an idea of how the first day went down. It opens up in New York City and Lupita’s unnamed character on the bus with her cat. Suddenly there are strange giant sounds all around. The bus stops and the invasion begins right there and then. The back half of her bus is ripped off and we see New Yorkers standing in the street staring at the ships crashing to earth, looking like a meteor shower.
There’s also footage of people learning they have to be silent, to survive and there is a lot of chaos. It’s A Quiet Place in one of the loudest cities on Earth. The footage ended with Lupita crawling under a car to hide, but someone being attacked by an alien grabs her feet, begging for help.
Ryan Gosling Is A Stuntman Again In The Fall Guy’s First Footage
Ryan Gosling is perhaps best known for his turn as the unnamed stunt driver in Nicolas Winding Refn’s violent crime film Drive. He’s once again stepping into the dangerous life of a stunt driver, but this time he has a name: Colt Seavers. Universal unveiled the first footage of the long-in-development movie The Fall Guy at CinemaCon 2023.
Based on the 1980s television show of the same name, Gosling plays Colt, a former stuntman who left the job after breaking his back. Colt is living a kind of aimless life as a valet, and we see him doing stunts in one of the cars he’s supposed to park. He gets called in to join the space opera movie his ex Gail (Emily Blunt) is directing.
The star of the movie, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, goes missing. If they don’t find him, she probably will lose her chance to direct ever again. And so Colt looks for the star in his free time while also doing stunts for the movie. Along the way, people are trying to put a stop to his search in the most lethal way possible. The whole thing appears to be set in the ’80s.
The Exorcist: Believer Gets First Footage At CinemaCon 2023
The Exorcist franchise, like the supernatural entities the movies are about, is hard to get rid of. The sixth film in the franchise is on the way later this year, and we’ve seen the first footage at CinemaCon 2023.
In The Exorcist: Believer, two girls become possessed. After being dropped off at school, they never come home. They’re finally found in the woods after three days, thinking that they were gone for more like three hours. It quickly becomes clear that the girls are possessed. One of them walks into a church during communion, drenched in what is either blood or grape juice–pretty much the same thing–screaming “The Body and the Blood” in a demonic voice.
Ellen Burstyn returns from the original to reprise her role as Chris MacNeil, the mother of the original possession victim, Regan. One of the girls’ fathers, played by Leslie Odom Jr., goes to her for help. She faces off against one of the possessed girls and tells her, “We’ve met before.” Does that mean Pazuzu is back?
The Exorcist Reboot Now Has an Official Title, Plot, and Terrifying First Footage
Fresh off their trilogy re-imagining the Halloween franchise, producer Jason Blum and director David Gordon Green are doing it again. They’re prepping three Exorcist films to hit theaters in the coming years and at CinemaCon 2023, we saw the first footage from the first of those films. It’s now officially called The…
Oppenheimer CinemaCon Footage Teases Spy Drama At Los Alamos
You’ll have to wait until next week to see the full trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, the film that tells the story of the phycisist Robert Oppenheimer and his part in the creation of the atomic bomb. And also after that, during the Cold War, as CinemaCon attendees saw Wednesday night. Nolan himself appeared on stage during Universal’s presentation to present a sizzle reel of clips from the film to whet the appetites of assembled movie theater owners.
“I know of no more dramatic tale with higher stakes,” Nolan told the crowd, before letting the footage from the film roll.
It began in black and white, with Senator Lewis Strauss (Robert Downey Jr.) learning that the Soviets have an atomic bomb of their own. Strauss isn’t happy that the US is apparently falling behind in the nuclear arms race.
