RPS@PAX West 2022: We chat with Brainwash Gang about their chaotic deck-building FPS Friends Vs Friends
It’s the dawn of day three here at PAX West, and what better way to wake us up than play the incredibly chaotic demo build of
Friends VS Friends. We loved the trailer from Gamescom and Liam even chose it for his bestest pick in our Gamescom round-up video, so our expectations were high, and after playing a quick match at the Raw Fury booth, Brainwash Gang’s blood-pumping deck-building FPS shot straight to the top of our favourite things we’ve seen here at PAX so far.
If you’ve not heard of Friends VS Friends, check out the game’s trailer first (its incredibly slick animation is super cool, highly reccomended for your peepers) then watch our interview with Brainwash Gang developer Edu Verz who talked all about the game’s development. Watch it below:
Mysterious FPS Project Slingshot has a cheese gun, and a closed alpha
If there’s one thing that goes great with a hot FPS game, it’s cheese. At least, that’s the sense you get from this cryptic teaser trailer for Project Slingshot, the codename for a new multiplayer game that’s in the works from C77, which itself is a newly formed studio that includes some FPS veterans from 343 Industries and Bungie. C77 is looking for alpha testers, and you can sign up for a chance to fire a cheese gun right now.

Skull And Bones will support 4K, ray tracing, and uncapped FPS on PC
If there was any PC graphics option I could choose to tweak in real life, it would be “Clutter”. My flat forever has it set to Very High, but Skull And Bones will let PC players cycle it down to Low with only a few clicks. It’s one of many options highlighted in the “PC features” trailer, which also highlights 4K HDR, ultrawide monitor support, ray tracing and other graphical wizardry available in Ubisoft’s pirate ’em up.
Marauders is a sci-fi survival FPS with space scavenging and spaceship dogfights
One of the briefer — but nonetheless exciting — games shown off during Gamescom early this week was Marauders. This multiplayer survival looter FPS has you venture out into space to scavenge for supplies, fending off other players as you try your best to make off with a nice haul.
Releasing into Steam Early Access in October 2022, players keen to jump in even earlier can take part in a series of technical tests during September between September 6-14. More information on these tests will be present on the official Marauders developer blog.
Narrative-wise, it’s got an interesting premise. The game is set in an alternative 1980s where World War 1 never ended. As a result the world has been over-industrialised to near destruction, forcing some to venture out to space as a better alternative to the war-torn world below.
