Why Ninja Gaiden Black Is the Best ‘Pure’ Action Game of All Time
Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive could potentially be receiving reboots
It sounds like both the Dead or Alive and the Ninja Gaiden series are on track to receive respective reboots.
We haven’t had a new entry in either series for a number of years, but according to a recent report from Ruliweb (thanks, VGC), that soon might change. The report shared that Team Ninja president Fumihiko Yasuda spoke during a panel at the G-Star conference in Busan, where he said he was working to bring fans news as soon as he could.
Interestingly, a slide at the end of the panel showed a pair of images showing Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive along with the headline “The future of Team Ninja – Reboot of popular series,” in Japanese. Obviously this doesn’t outright confirm brand new games are coming right around the corner, though it does very strongly suggest that we can expect something in the future.

Team Ninja Would Outsource a New Ninja Gaiden Game, But Only If It Would ‘Exceed Expectations’
Like a Dragon 8 and Like a Dragon Gaiden announced for consoles and PC
SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have announced Like a Dragon 8 and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name for consoles and PC.
Announced just ahead of TGS 2022 in a livestream, Like a Dragon 8 will star Kazuma Kiryu and Yakuza: Like a Dragon’s Ichiban Kasuga.
With the game’s announcement, it seems the Yakuza title has been retired in the west, as the developers are opting to call the series by the same name as its Japanese counterpart.

Yakuza Spin-Off Like A Dragon Gaiden Announced, Coming In 2023
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is a new spin-off coming from Yakuza developer Ryu Ga Gotoku studio and publisher Sega. Described as a “classic high-octane” action-adventure, the game will fill in the gaps between Yakuza 6 and the upcoming Yakuza 8, revealing what Kazuma Kiryu was up to during that mysterious time.
In the trailer, the legendary Dragon of Dojima is seen meditating at a temple and seeks forgiveness in a world that believes him to be dead. Even though he claims to have left his old life in the Japanese underworld behind, Kiryu is drawn back for one final job and assumes the alias of Joryu.
RGG added that this Gaiden–which means side story–adventure will be around half the length of a typical Yakuza game, and the events in it will be canon to Kiryu’s timeline. Other details are being kept under wraps, but you can expect side quests, opportunities to explore, and gameplay that is aimed at Yakuza veterans and anyone who has played the entire saga so far.
