Stylish mech shooter Hawken returning with a free-to-play PvE game
Five years after competitive multiplayer mech shooter Hawken shut down, a new game will invite us back to stomp around in its scrappy mechs. Announced last night by developers and publishers 505 Games, the free-to-play Hawken Reborn will launch into early access tomorrow. This time, it’s a PvE game, with story missions plus open patrol zones to explore and complete jobs. I was enamoured with the jetdashing scrappy mechs and greeble-covered apartment blocks of the first game but always wished it had a singleplayer or co-op campaign, so I’m certainly curious about this.

The NFL will make one playoff game a streaming exclusive on Peacock next year
The NFL just announced a new deal with Peacock that gives the NBCUniversal-owned streaming service national broadcast rights to one wild card playoff game next season. Described as the “first-ever exclusive live streamed NFL Playoff game,” it will feature two teams facing off in primetime on January 13th, 2024. The arrangement was first reported by The Wall Street Journal, which cites sources saying the deal for this one game is worth around $110 million.
Of course, we don’t know which two teams will be playing, but for fans without Peacock, options for watching may depend on where you live. Along with a regular season game (Bills vs. Chargers on December 23rd, or as you may know it, the Burn It All game) that will also be a Peacock…

Tears of the Kingdom’s Fuse ability turns the game into Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater
Shield surfing returns in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but with Link’s new powers, he’s turned into a full on skater boy.
It seems that there’s a limitless number of activities to do in this updated version of Breath of the Wild’s Hyrule. Whether it’s making a whole bunch of wacky and wonderful creations (and some rather obscene ones), or just simply proving that there isn’t a “right” way to play the game. But the hottest trend taking over the hills of Hyrule? Skateboarding. In the first game, you could do a cool flip to get Link on his shield to surf down mountains, snowy slopes, or sandy dunes. But now, players are using Link’s Fuse ability to make flat out skateboards.
The thing about Tears of the Kingdom, is that if an object can be interacted with through Link’s Ultrahand ability, you can also do so with any of his other abilities, including Fuse. So that means you can do things like sticking a rock on the end of your sword, or firing off an arrow with a mushroom on its tip. It also means that you can attach a mine- or regular cart to your shield, which players have quickly found is the sickest way to get around Hyrule.
