Stellar Blade gameplay trailer brings some character-action goodness to the Sony State of Play
Great news for you character-action fans watching the Sony State of Play tonight, as Stellar Blade (formerly Project Eve) was just shown off via a rad new gameplay and story trailer. The game got much more than just a proper name though, as we now know the title will be coming exclusively to the PS5 in 2023.
The new trailer can be found embedded below, which showcases a lot of excellent high fying, combo-centric melee action like we got only a glimpse off last year in the initial reveal trailer for Project Eve. Now, it looks like that action has only be turned up to 11 in the time away from the spotlight, with sci-fi fighting that has us foaming at the mouth.
In the trailer, we’re introduced to a variety of new friendly characters that come alongside us in a journey across a ruined and largely abbandoned world. It seems like a gigantic disaster botched the place up something serious, leading to a variety of nasty (and frankly, brilliant looking) enemies all over the gaff.
God Of War Ragnarok Gameplay Trailer Revealed Alongside Special Edition DualSense Controller
God of War: Ragnarok is surely at the forefront of many minds with its November launch date approaching fast, and knowing that, Sony decided to build further hype during its State of Play with a new gameplay trailer. Mixing in cinematic moments, such as basically everyone questioning Kratos’ judgment, including himself, we also get an extended look at the game’s combat systems and incredible-looking environments.
See for yourself in this new gameplay trailer fresh off the virtual stage of Sony’s September 13 State of Play.
Alongside that trailer also comes the reveal of a God of War: Ragnarok-branded DualSense controller. Featuring an icy white and blue style inspired by Midgard along with images of a bear (Kratos) and a wolf (Atreus), on the touchpad, it’s likely that the biggest God of War fans will be looking to preorder it as soon as possible. Those preorders begin on September 27, said Sony.
Starfield gameplay trailer says you might get to play as an alien
The Starfield gameplay trailer continues to deliver a few hints and gems with regards to the upcoming space RPG, even while Fallout and Skyrim maker Bethesda seems content to withhold any more information on its next, big project, including, by the looks of it, the possibility you might be able to play as a kind of alien.

Forspoken looks like a faster, zippier FF15 in fiery new gameplay footage
Fantasy action RPG Forspoken has been delayed more times than most games, although it’s finally pencilled in for a January release date. We’re still quite a way off from then, but Sony have released a smattering more gameplay footage today, detailing the moves you’ll be pulling as heroine Frey “I’m seeing freaking dragons” Holland. Alas, said footage has been crushed down to only a handful of GIFs over on the PlayStation Blog, but our friends at Eurogamer have a bigger, chunkier hands on preview that tells us more about why it won’t be mega cringe. Alas, we weren’t privy to this Forspoken demo, so have a watch with us below.
Aliens: Dark Descent gets a brief first bit of Xenomorph-filled gameplay
The upcoming, tactical squad-based action game Aliens: Dark Descent got its first bit of gameplay shown off during the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase at D23.
First revealed back in June, Aliens: Dark Descent is a new single-player action game set to launch in 2023 from Tindalos Interactive and Focus Entertainment, but no gameplay was shown at the time. Now, although only briefly, we’ve had our first look at the squad-based shooter in action.
The trailer shows the top-down game in action, where you “take your squad of marines on missions as you infiltrate and investigate the Xenomorph outbreak. Develop your tactics, assemble your colonial marines, and take on the Xenomorph hordes.”

Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth gets its first bit of gameplay in new trailer
The EA published The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth has received its first gameplay trailer, showing off the turn-based, mobile game in action.
First announced back in May, Heroes of Middle-earth was revealed as a character-collecting RPG, but no gameplay was shown at the time, just a single piece of concept art. Now, as revealed at GameSpot Swipe, the game has finally been shown in action, with the game’s art director Chris Salazar going into some detail.
Interestingly there is a new ring that’s been added to the universe, which according to Salazar, “grants the player the ability to bring the best characters that best suite that battle that’s going to happen in that location, and somewhat push the bounds of what is the narrative canon.” Salazar also explained that the new ring will make a lot more sense once you dive into the game.

Ubisoft said it is gearing up for a closed alpha, but a date wasn’t provided. You can sign up for future closed tests on the official website.
Evil West shows off even more gameplay to make you feel really bad about that delay
Evil West is a game you’re going to be hearing about a lot in the coming months, some might even say it could be your favourite action game of 2022. The Flying Wild Hog third-person shooter-meets-action-game dropped a lengthy new gameplay trailer.
This is the the second one of those we got to see this summer, and it looks even better. Though the focus remains squarely on the action, this new footage does offer a deeper dive into the narrative and a look at some of the characters.
Evil West takes place in an alternate history version of the Wild West. The trailer shows that the events of the game align with Lincoln’s presidency, which is a nice touch. We get to see the cowboy protagonist visit the HQ of the secret vampire-hunting corps he works for.
