It feels like the last month of gaming news has been a whole decade. Remember the OGL 1.1? That happened less than three weeks ago! Microsoft’s mass layoffs will affect Starfield, Halo Infinite, and Gears Of War developers
Microsoft has announced mass layoffs that will affect the developers behind Starfield, Halo Infinite, and Gears Of War. Bloomberg report that it’s not yet known what the scale of the job losses at Bethesda and 343 Industries will be, and Kotaku has also confirmed that The Coalition will also lose staff. Sources claim that some of the staff who’d lost their jobs at the affected studios were veterans who’d been with Microsoft for more than a decade. This layoff announcement from Microsoft has been made exactly a year after the company revealed they were buying Activision Blizzard.
Korean handmade goods marketplace Backpackr gears up to expand into Southeast Asia
About a decade ago, Donghwan Kim helped his cousin, a ceramist, look for sales channels, like flea markets, to sell his ceramics. But they had a hard time locating a suitable platform, so after about a year, Kim decided to create a marketplace for handmade goods himself in South Korea called Backpackr. Today, Backpackr, which […]

Transformers: Reactivate is a new online action game from the developers of Gears Tactics
Do you like robots that disguise themselves as other kinds of machinery? You might be happy to hear about the recent reveal of Transformers: Reactivate.
Revealed at The Game Awards earlier this week, Transformers: Reactivate is the latest title coming from Gears Tactics and Brink developer Splash Damage. You remember Brink, right? It had parkour! And guns! Anyway, Transformers: Reactivate is Splash Damage’s latest title, and is apparently an online action game for one to four players, unsurprisingly letting you play as some of the series’ notable characters.
As is par for the course for most games these days, the reveal trailer didn’t have any gameplay to show off, opting for a cinematic look at what we can expect from the title. The trailer gives us a first-person perspective of the one and only Bumblebee, with a bunch of humans working hard to repair him after he was seemingly taken down during some kind of robotic, alien invasion. It was also set to an incredibly dramatic version of Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi, which was just awful honestly, but hey, Transformers are cool, so it’s fun to see a new game.

Dave Bautista wants us all to know he would really like to be in the Gears of War movie
Dave Bautista has put his hat in the ring to be cast in the Gears of War movie by reminding everyone he was literally in one of the games.
It was definitely one of the weirder pieces of promotional material for Gears of War 5, but for a period of time you could get a skin that was quite literally just Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista, nothing fancier than that. Well, just this week Netflix announced a film adaptation and animated series are on the way. And Bautista wants in, as shown by a recent tweet of his.
“I can’t make this any easier,” tweeted Bautista alongside a video of him in a Gears costume, a video that was originally used as promotional material for his appearance in Gears 5. He of course tagged the relevant parties, Netflix and the official Gears Twitter, and unsurprisingly the tweet has received quite a lot of support for his sort of audition for Marcus Fenix.
