Guerrilla subtly confirms a new Horizon game as its studio director moves on
To the surprise of no one, Guerrilla Games has basically confirmed that another Horizon game starring Aloy is on the way.
Earlier today Guerrilla Games shared a blog post announcing that studio director and executive producer Angie Smets is leaving the developer after 20 years to join PlayStation Studios as head of development strategy. The post obviously wished Smets well in her new role, but it also pretty nonchalantly confirmed that Aloy will be returning for another Horizon game at some point. “We have full confidence in our new leadership as they steer Guerrilla towards a bright future, expanding the world of Horizon with Aloy’s next adventure and our exciting online project,” reads the post.
Smets also offered a little goodbye message in the post, writing, “These past two decades at Guerrilla have been an absolute dream. I feel privileged to have worked alongside some of the smartest and coolest people in the industry. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve learned alongside all the other Guerrillas. We have accomplished so much as a team, and I’m incredibly proud of all the games we’ve shipped together.”

Guerrilla confirm their rumoured online Horizon game is indeed real
The universe that began with Horizon Zero Dawn is expanding, with devs Guerrilla Games confirming that they’re working on a new single-player games for Aloy, and a separate “Online Project” set in the same universe. Announced in a tweet today, it confirms previous rumours that Guerrilla were working on an online multiplayer Horizon game, and a recent batch of job listings for the project have given us a glimpse of what we might be able to expect once it’s ready.

Andor has made me want a low-key, guerrilla warfare Star Wars Rebellion strategy game
If you’re even tangentially into Star Wars, you know the score by now: Andor is hot shit. I mean that in the good way, not in the Bantha poodoo way. After Rise of Skywalker went to great pains to cure me of the disease that is my long-held Star Wars fanaticism, Andor is finally providing me with something exciting enough to reinvigorate my interest in this universe – and so naturally, my thoughts now turn to how what Andor presents could be plied in the world of video games.
Andor is about fighting facism, really. Star Wars has always had this weird problem of being a fun and fanciful space opera for kids while also having one of its key factions plainly inspired by the Nazis – so the villains simultaneously have to be space opera silly, the types who can get battered by teddy bears, but also frightening and willing to set a torture robot on innocents.
That means that Andor sometimes doesn’t exactly fit with all of the rest of Star Wars. I think this is quite often true of the best of the franchise, in fact; when a piece of it decides to run with what it is, and not worry too much about how that reflects on the rest of the series.
