5 productivity tips for hybrid workers
As the world returns to the office, many people are finding themselves working in a new hybrid environment, where some of the workweek is spent at home and some is spent in the office.
Working from essentially two different offices can make productivity in both places challenging. A collaborative study from researchers at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), Stanford, the University of Chicago, and MIT found that six out of 10 workers reported being more productive at home than they expected to be, in part because they were able to cut out commute time and unwanted conversations with chatty co-workers. The majority of respondents thought home was a great place to get some heads-down uninterrupted work done; however, many found some collaborative tasks were a bit more challenging to do from their home office.

Trouble sleeping? Maybe it’s time for a new mattress — the Layla Hybrid is $200 off for a limited time.
SAVE $200: As of Aug. 17, the Layla Hybrid Mattress is $200 off the usual price (and comes with two free pillows). Get a queen size for just $1,499.
Sleep is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Without sufficient rest, your whole life can become a lot more difficult. It’s harder to focus, harder to perform your daily tasks, and harder to recover from the day before. Then you just end up falling into an endless cycle where you’re tired all the time.
And if the reason you’re not getting your best sleep is more because of your mattress than your actual bedtime, here’s your opportunity to fix that. Layla is having an early Labor Day sale, and their high-end flippable Hybrid Mattress (“hybrid” meaning it employs both memory foam and coils in its construction) is on sale for $200 off the usual price, just $1,499 for a queen size. Plus, you’ll get two free pillows.
One unique feature separates Layla’s mattress from the rest of the online bed-in-a-box brands you know and love: Its flippable nature. The fact that the Layla Hybrid bed can be flipped and used in different ways makes it a no-brainer for those who change up their sleep position at a moment’s notice. Craving a softer mattress one night, but a firmer one the next? Layla is both — all you have to do is flip. And with seven separate layers for extra cooling and support, you can’t go wrong.

Apple employees will return to the office in September under hybrid model
Apple has informed staff that they will be expected to return to the office three days per week starting September 5th, according to internal emails viewed by The Verge. The news was first reported by Bloomberg.
All employees in the Bay Area will be expected to come in on Tuesdays and Thursdays, in addition to a third day every week that’s decided based on individual teams. Employees have the option of working remotely twice a week.
The news marks the start of Apple’s much delayed hybrid work model, which was announced in June 2021. The announcement set off a wave of activism within the company as employees protested the return to work. Those protests died down as Apple continued to delay the hybrid work model due to the pandemic.

In a hybrid workforce world, what happens to all that office space?
Offices are getting smaller — or at least companies that own or lease office space are now using less of it, according to the 2022 Office Space Report compiled by workplace management software maker Robin Powered.
The company surveyed 247 business owners, facilities managers and those in charge of office space. The survey was aimed at getting a better idea of what companies plan to do with their all their cubicles, meeting rooms and offices in the aftermath of workplace changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the move to remote and hybrid work, and the Great Resignation.
