App Store Prices Increasing in the UK and Other Countries on February 13
App and in-app purchase prices in Colombia, Egypt, Hungary, Nigeria, Norway, South Africa, and the United Kingdom will go up, and prices in Uzbekistan will drop because of a three percent reduction in the value-added tax (VAT) rate. Updated prices are listed on Apple’s App Store price chart [PDF].
Prices in Ireland, Luxembourg, Singapore, and Zimbabwe are not changing, but proceeds will be adjusted slightly due to VAT changes.
- Ireland: Reduction of value-added tax rate on electronic newspapers and periodicals from 9% to 0%
- Luxembourg: Reduction of value-added tax rate from 17% to 16%
- Singapore: Increase of goods and services tax rate from 7% to 8%
- Zimbabwe: Increase of value-added tax rate from 14.5% to 15%
By the end of January, Apple says that proceeds are set to increase for local developers selling in Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand, and Uzbekistan.
Back in December, Apple announced plans to provide developers with an additional 700 price points for App Store apps, allowing for more variation in App Store pricing. Apps will be able to be priced as low as 29 cents or as high as $10,000, and these changes are set to be implemented for all apps in spring 2023.

Years After Release, Factorio’s Price Is Increasing On Steam Due To Inflation
Factorio, the factory base building strategy game from developer Wube Software, is permanently becoming more expensive next week. Starting January 26, the base price will be increased from $30 to $35. According to the studio, the decision is to account for inflation. The studio confirmed to GameSpot that the price change “will apply across all platforms,” including Nintendo Switch.
During its early access period, Factorio had a base price of $20, which was bumped to $30 back in 2020 once version 1.0 was released. Ever since, the PC version has remained at said price, except for the occasional sale. But as Wube Software announced today on Twitter, this is an “adjustment to account for the level of inflation the Steam release in 2016,” referring to the year in which early access began.
Good day Engineers,
Next week, on Thursday 26th January 2023,
We will increase the base price of Factorio from $30 to $35.
This is an adjustment to account for the level of inflation since the Steam release in 2016.— Factorio (@factoriogame) January 20, 2023
The strategy title has received dozens of updates ever since its 1.0 release, with the latest two being as recent as last week. In late 2022, the developer launched a Nintendo Switch version–the first console port of the game that also shared a base price of $30–which has also been receiving support since.

Apple Increasing the Price of Out-of Warranty iPhone, Mac, and iPad Battery Replacements Starting in March
Apple says starting March 1, 2023, the price of out-of-warranty battery replacements for all models of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 series, as well as older iPhone models, will increase by $20. Currently, Apple charges $69 for a battery replacement on most iPhone models, according to an estimation calculator on the company’s website.
The price increase will only impact customers who do not have AppleCare or AppleCare+ for their devices. With AppleCare+, customers pay $0 for a battery replacement once their battery health has decreased past 80%.
Update: Apple is also increasing the price of out-of-warranty battery replacements for Mac and the iPad. MacBook Air battery replacement will increase by $30 and MacBook Pro battery prices by $50. Newer iPad models will see their prices increase by $20. These price changes will be effective March 1, 2023.
