Embracer Group is moving development on the upcoming Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake for PS5 and PC from Aspyr Media to a Saber Interactive studio in Eastern Europe, according to Bloomberg.
The game, announced last September in a short trailer during a Sony showcase, was originally being made by Aspyr, which is known for its ports of KOTOR and KOTOR II. But development on the remake was paused after a demo was shown to Lucasfilm and Sony, Bloomberg reported in July.
Saber had been helping with development on the remake, but a cryptic statement in Embracer’s earnings report last week seemed to suggest that Saber could be officially taking over. “One of the Group’s AAA projects has transitioned to another studio…
Gotham Knights is an upcoming action RPG from WB Games, due for release in October. With the spookiest of months quickly descending on us, it’s about time we got some more gameplay footage from the not-Batman-but-kinda-Batman beat ’em up. Well, we did. Batman’s whole deal, typically anyway, is that he doesn’t kill anybody. That obviously has something to do with his own parents being killed, which he didn’t exactly respond to in the most healthy way, but you still, it’s a pretty hard rule. That rule doesn’t apply so much to Red Hood, aka Jason Todd, a former Robin, as you can see in the most recent trailer and the frequency with which he shoots people.
OK so technically if you look at his character page on the official website, he has supposedly “embraced Batman’s non-lethal combat methods,” but his character trailer sure does show him using a whole lot of violent combat methods, and he still does dual wield a couple of pistols.
Gotham Knights, the new open-world game from Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros. Montreal, set to release in October, has a very different take on Batman’s Gotham City, offering a more storied and historic version of the crime-ridden metropolis than Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, or the Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson-helmed The Batman.
