The Labyrinths of Forbidden Science – The Journals of Jacques Vallee – The Oz Files
An appreciative Bill Chalker reviews the latest of the series of journals Jacques Vallee began in 1957. Forbidden Science 5, Pacific Heights: The Journals of Jacques Vallee 2000-2009 (Anomalist Books) covers a period of most intense ufological and personal history for Dr. Vallee. Bill lists some of the “many fascinating insights” this volume offers about important but still mysterious events of the era, and readers will have much to ponder about the eventual outcomes of numerous threads touched upon in Pacific Heights. Bill also notes how Vallee’s personal losses of his mother Madeleine and wife Janine “cast a heavy spell over this volume.” This work and its predecessors are “must haves” for understanding the development of UFO studies and Vallee’s contributions. Typical Skeptic Podcast offers Alien Artifacts, A Look at Early UFO & Alien Contact – UFO Researcher Chris Aubeck & TsP. One time Vallee collaborator Aubeck seems more “skeptical” than host Robert Kalil, though not on UFOs per se. Aubeck’s focus is rather how UFOs have been interpreted through time. His new book Alien Artifacts: The Forgotten Story of How We Came to Believe in Visitors from the Stars: From Antiquity to 1880 is the initial installment in a very promising series, replete with surprising and worthwhile findings.
