Hogwarts Legacy – How To Upgrade Your Gear
In Hogwarts Legacy you will constantly find yourself collecting new pieces of gear, which provide both offensive and defensive benefits when in combat. While swapping to a higher level piece of gear will provide you a step up in stats, you can improve your gear to provide extra benefits as well. Hogwarts Legacy starts displaying messages about improving your gear early in the game, but you will need to progress a little bit before you have access to the system. Here’s how to upgrade your gear in Hogwarts Legacy.
You need material from beasts

Shortly after attending Beasts class for the first time in Fall and completing all available story quests at that time, Professor Weasley will send you an owl letter saying she has something new available in the Room of Requirement, starting the story quest “The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom.” This quest is given by Deek, the house-elf that resides in the Room of Requirement. During this quest you will be given a tutorial on how to collect beasts in the wild and how to care for them when they are kept in the Room of Requirement.
You will collect a Puffskien, Jobberknoll, and a Mooncalf, which will provide the necessary materials for upgrading the first tier of your gear. For more on how to capture beasts and where to find more of them, check out our beast capturing guide. Once you have completed this quest, Deek will give you a loom to add to the Room of Requirement, which can be used to upgrade your equipment.
How to get a Hogwarts Legacy large pot

Acquiring a Hogwarts Legacy large pot and its potting table are crucial to growing some of the most important plants, or potion ingredients, in the wizard game, as you’ll need to match the plant size to the pot you grow it in.
You can grow all sorts of plants in the Hogwarts Legacy Room of Requirement, and they will yield some unique and interesting potion ingredients. As usual to you as Hogwarts Legacy spells, your potions can turn you invisible, heal you, reduce spell cooldowns, and other useful traits, so you definitely need to know how to farm the ingredients. While you can buy ready-grown plants from The Magic Neep and Dogweed and Deathcap shops, it’s much cheaper and more fruitful to grow them yourself, so here’s how to get a potting table with a large pot in Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy – How To Get A Graphorn Mount And Pet
There are many Fantastic Beasts that you can encounter in Hogwarts Legacy. Most of the time, they’ll simply run away and when you attempt to catch them. One creature, however, is far deadlier. Here’s our Hogwarts Legacy Graphorn guide to help you get this animal as a mount, as well as capture additional ones if need be.
The Graphorn mount in San Bakar’s Trial
To be clear, the Graphorn is currently the only ground mount in Hogwarts Legacy. It won’t become available until you complete San Bakar’s Trial, which is one of the last few quests in the game. As such, you’ll just need to progress further in the campaign until it becomes available.
Once you do start it, you’ll go to Cragcroft Shore, which is in the southern half of the world map. Use Incendio or Confringo on the vines to reveal a Graphorn carving. From there, you’re tasked with capturing a Graphorn. Its den is located in Clagmar Coast, at the southeastern tip of the map. You can use your broom or flying mount to reach the location faster.
How To Catch A Phoenix In Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy allows you to capture and tame several magical creatures, eventually releasing them into your Vivarium. It’s an animal sanctuary that’s part of the Room of Requirement. Still, there’s one creature of legend that’s fairly elusive, though you do have a chance to acquire it. Here’s our Hogwarts Legacy guide to help you tame your own Phoenix pet.
Phoenix Rising quest
To catch a Phoenix pet in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll need to complete the Phoenix Rising quest. However, it won’t be available until much later in the campaign. Here are some requirements:
- Finish the Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial main quest.
- Complete all of Deek the house elf’s sidequests, such as Plight of the House Elf and Foal of the Dead (which unlocks the Beast breeding mechanic).
Shortly thereafter, you’re told that Deek needs your help once more. With the Phoenix Rising quest tracked, you’ll want to head to the southern portion of the world map in a region called Poidsear Coast.

The Hogwarts Legacy Ghost of Our Love quest can be incredibly confusing, especially if you aren’t keeping track of your side quests. The treasure map with the floating candles can be acquired after ‘The Hunt for the Missing Pages’ quest without the player realising what they’ve just picked up. Fortunately, we’re going to explain exactly what’s going on, show you what you’re looking for, and how to solve this mystery.
Once you have the Hogwarts Legacy treasure map in your inventory, you will unlock the Ghost of Our Love quest. The map shows a drawing of the Forbidden Forest with an additional drawing of a bridge and some floating candles. You do need access to Lumos – one of the Hogwarts Legacy spells – to continue the quest, but there’s a good chance you have it by the time you’ve reached this point in the RPG game.
