Lord Of The Rings Online Dev Reacts To Amazon’s New Game Announcement
The developers of The Lord of the Rings Online have reacted to the news this week that Amazon Games is creating its own Lord of the Rings MMO that will seemingly exist alongside the older game.
LOTRO developer Standing Stone Games said in a forum post that it has received “a number of notes from excited and concerned community members” regarding Amazon’s new game. Some said they are concerned that Amazon’s game coming to market might signal the end of the road for The Lord of the Rings Online, but that is not the case.
“LOTRO is not going away!” Standing Stone Games said.
Amazon Games announce a second attempt at The Lord Of The Rings MMO
Amazon Games are taking another stab at creating an MMO based on The Lord Of The Rings world, this time partnering with the Embracer Group who recently bought the entirety of Middle-Earth – the IP, not the realms, though I wouldn’t put it past them. The untitled project is currently in early development for both PC and consoles with Orange County – the folks behind MMO New World – leading the charge.
Gollum Actor Andy Serkis Still Wants To Come Back For New Lord Of The Rings Movies
Actor Andy Serkis, who famously played Gollum in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings movie series, has said for at least a second time that he would be interested in coming back for the newly announced Lord of the Rings films.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Serkis said Peter Jackson and writing partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are “a second family to me.” Jackson, Walsh, and Boyens are not confirmed to be coming back yet, but if they do, Serkis would jump at the opportunity to be involved.
“I’ve spent so many years making films with them,” Serkis said. “I love their sensibility and their take; it’s filmmaking on a different kind of level. You live and breathe it. And so, yes, if some opportunity were to come up, it would be an amazing thing.”

Here’s How Lord Of The Rings Would Look As A Pixar Movie
Peter Jackson’s Lord of The Rings is seen as a pinnacle of fantasy filmmaking, creating a name for Jackson as a director as well as the myriad production companies that worked on it–but what if the trilogy was created as an animation by Pixar instead?
This is the question Instagram user Benmornin seeks to answer with a series of images showing the original Fellowship (plus a bonus Arwen) rendered in Pixar’s iconic animated style.
While the renders are clearly based on the actors who appeared in PJ’s trilogy, the style is more reminiscent of Ralph Bakshi’s animated Lord Of The Rings from 1978.

Here’s How The Ring Tempts You In Magic: The Gathering’s The Lord Of The Rings Expansion
Back in March, Magic: The Gathering players got their first look at cards from the upcoming The Lord Of The Rings: Tales Of Middle-Earth expansion. Along with familiar faces like Frodo, Gandalf, and more, some of the cards revealed featured a phrase alluding to a new and unique mechanic: “The Ring Tempts You.”
With Magic-Con Minneapolis beginning today, we have the exclusive reveal of this new mechanic, as well as two brand-new card reveals centered around the mechanic and how it can provide even more benefits outside of its core uses.
How The Ring Tempts You
One thing to note, before we begin, is that this is not pertaining the card called “The One Ring.” That’s a standalone Legendary Artifact card with its own abilities–and an one-of-a-kind serialized version coming out with the set. This mechanic revolves around an emblem that boosts a creature’s abilities, and it is triggered with specific card text.
