Germany considering copying Britain and doing its own Rwanda-style migrants deal
GERMANY is considering copying Britain and doing its own Rwanda-style migrants deal.
It comes as MPs in the Commons will tomorrow vote on Rishi Sunak’s landmark new Bill to “stop the boats”.
As Europe plunges deeper into a migrant crisis, German politicians are calling for their own version of the Rwanda migrants deal to combat the chaos[/caption]
A German version of the Rwanda scheme is popular with Free Democratic Party politician, Joachim Stamp, who urged his government to consider a similar plan[/caption]
Sir Keir Starmer is set to order Labour MPs to vote against it.
But senior German politician Joachim Stamp said Berlin should consider a similar plan.
Deporting migrants to countries in North Africa might be the only way for Europe to cope with the migration crisis, he added.
A Home Office source said: “It is understandable our plans are being looked at by European countries.”
A Home Office source said: “All of Europe is struggling with the same migration crisis. The numbers arriving are spiralling.
“It is understandable our ground-breaking plans to send illegal immigrants to safe other countries – like Rwanda – are being looked at by European countries.
“And it appears they are already looking at it in Germany.
“The people of Europe will not stomach mass illegal migration and chaos at their borders for much longer.”
Mr Sunak has staked his political career on stopping the boats.
Over 45,000 migrants arrived on dinghies last year and there are predictions it could rocket to 80,000 this year.
The Bill would deport all Channel migrants and ban them from claiming asylum.

Thousands of small boat migrants will get asylum applications approved without interviews in bid to clear huge backlog
THOUSANDS of migrants will get asylum without interviews in a bid to clear the huge backlog.
Arrivals from nations with high approval rates such as Afghanistan and Syria will see applications sped up.
However critics warn it is an effective “amnesty” for small boat migrants who come here illegally, and will only encourage more to cross the Channel.
PM Rishi Sunak has vowed to clear 100,000 cases this year.
Under new two-tier plans, around 12,000 people will only have to fill in forms to apply to stay.
If they pass basic terror and crime checks and have a genuine reason, they will succeed.
They include migrants from Afghanistan, Eritrea, Syria, Yemen and Libya who arrived before last June.
The PM will also double the number of caseworkers to 2,500, and they will be required to get through at least four decisions a week.
It came as angry MPs yesterday demanded long-awaited new laws to stop the small boats.
Andrew Selous slammed block-booking of hotels for migrants leading to weddings and family events being cancelled in South West Beds.
Theo Clarke called on the PM to reconsider putting 500 single male asylum-seekers in Beaconside, Stafford, following “a huge amount of objections”.
Mr Sunak said he and the Home Secretary “are working intensely and as quickly as possible” to bring the law forward.
His spokesman denied there was a hold-up but stressed ministers had to “get it right”.
Bodies of 18 migrants found dead inside secret compartment of abandoned truck in Bulgaria
EIGHTEEN Afghan migrants, including a child, have suffocated in a truck abandoned in Bulgaria.
The vehicle was transporting timber and carrying illegal migrants hidden in a compartment, the country’s Interior Ministry said on Friday.
The vehicle was found near the village of Lokorsko, around 12 miles from the capital, Sofia.
The drivers, suspected to be human traffickers, had fled the scene.
Senior police chief Atanas Ilkov said one of the four people detained had already been sentenced for human trafficking, and charges would be made once there was sufficient evidence.
Survivors were taken to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.
Bulgarian health minister Assen Medzhidiev has said the survivors were in a precarious condition.
He confirmed: “They have suffered from lack of oxygen, their clothes are wet, they are freezing, and obviously haven’t eaten for days.”
Bulgaria is located on a popular route used by migrants from countries in the Middle East to enter the EU.
The Balkan nation is typically a stepping-stone to richer countries in western Europe, used often by elaborate networks of smugglers.
Last year, more than 150,000 people attempted to cross the border with Turkey, nearly five times higher than the previous year.
It comes three years after Maurice Robinson was convicted of manslaughter for the death of 39 Chinese migrants found in a refrigerated lorry in Essex.
The victims, who had arrived at Purfleet from Zeebrugge in Belgium, had been dead for at least 12 hours before the gruesome discovery.

Union bigwig in racism row after being snapped mocking boat migrants
A UNION inflicting strike misery is embroiled in a racism row after a senior member was photographed mocking boat migrants.
Sam Shaw posed in a dinghy with a person seemingly dressed as IS bride Shamima Begum.
Another man in a black wig and lifejacket was also in the snaps with Mr Shaw, who had been running to sit on Unite’s executive council.
The union, Labour’s biggest donor, is involved in the NHS and rail strikes crippling Britain.
Unite criticised the pics and said it was looking into disciplinary action.
It said: “These photos of Sam Shaw with people in racist fancy dress are deeply offensive.
“We are informed that he has withdrawn his candidacy.”
“Please be clear that his candidacy for the Executive Council was not endorsed by the General Secretary, who is not even aware of him.
