CoD: MW2 Beta Offers A Lukewarm Glimpse Of Its Multiplayer AI In Ground War Invasion
The second weekend of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer beta is officially live, and this final test period brings PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players together to battle across the maps and modes from the first PlayStation-exclusive weekend, but it also includes the new addition of Ground War.
Weekend two of Modern Warfare 2’s beta includes Team Deathmatch, Domination, Knockout, Prisoner Rescue, third-person mode, and Ground War. Make sure to read our initial Modern Warfare 2 beta impressions to learn all about the maps, new objective modes, and changes to the Gunsmith feature. Third-person mode was added late in weekend one, so we’ll be discussing that along with our initial thoughts on Ground War.
Third-person mode returns
Third-person mode, which was previously featured in the original Modern Warfare 2, returns as a separate playlist with mixed respawn modes. Having this mode come back for the reboot gives players a different way to experience Call of Duty multiplayer, and it should be a welcome addition for those who prefer third-person shooters.

Creator Derek Yu said that more updates are planned for Spelunky 2, but the next step is to get feedback on multiplayer to improve the experience now its basic features are there. Don’t expect any more additions to single-player though, as the focus there is bug fixes.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer revealed – here’s the details
Activision and Infinity Ward showed off the multiplayer portion of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 today ahead of the open beta, which kicks off tomorrow.
One multiplayer feature the developers showed off was swimming and Aquatic Combat. Instead of dying when hitting the water like in previous games, action now occurs above, on, and in water. Various elements will be present such as currents and waves, and the water can be clean, murky, polluted, or have debris.
In the open beta, maps with water will showcase these enhancements, and you can use water as a stealth or escape mechanism. You can even change your stance or sprint and look down to plunge underwater. If you fire underwater using sidearms and certain equipment, your weapon’s projectile will be affected by the increased density, so you may need to change your aim. You will also need to pay special attention to Tactical items, and you may need to try all-new strategies when attacking boats, enemies below the water’s surface, or when you’re avoiding or deploying an explosive.

Want to play GoldenEye 007 multiplayer online on Xbox? There is a way – sort of
The announcement that a remastered version of GoldenEye 007 is heading to Xbox was met with cheers – rightly, given it’s one of the best games of all time. Then the cheers gave way to confusion, and disappointment, as it was confirmed that the version of the game releasing on Xbox consoles won’t have online multiplayer – only the classic split-screen.
In a weird twist, the Nintendo Switch version will have online play – but that release is basically an emulated version of the N64 release rather than a true remaster. It’s all a bit of a mess, and a bit of a disappointment. GoldenEye’s multiplayer is undoubtedly its most famous feature, and while it absolutely will forever be at its best when you’re crowded around a single screen – I also feel like online is a bit of a must in the year of our lord 2022.
If you want to play GoldenEye multiplayer on Xbox, however, this is an option – and it’s been available since 2010.
