Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Video Review
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – Multiplayer Tips
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s multiplayer features standard 6v6 playlists and a Ground War mode for large-scale fights. If you’re a new or returning player, the game might feel a bit overwhelming with fast-paced action and complicated gun customization. Here we provide some of the best tips to help you find success in Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer.
Adjust your game settings
Don’t just stick with the game’s default settings. There are tons of settings for audio, visual, and input devices that you’ll likely want to change beyond the default options. Turning off settings like motion blur, film grain, and depth of field will help with visibility. There are also settings like changing the Field of View to zoom out and see more information on the map. For those on console, we have a recommended settings guide for getting the most out of Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox or PlayStation consoles.
Use a headset
Use a headset if you’re able. This is a no-brainer for communicating with teammates, which is especially important in objective-based modes. However, it also gives more accurate map awareness, as you can better hear enemy footsteps to try and determine their positioning. Listen for the change in footstep audio to determine if the enemy is getting closer or moving further away. A headset also makes it easier to determine if the enemy is walking on the floor above or below you.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Review – Meet The New COD, Same As The Old COD
Infinity Ward’s rebooted Modern Warfare 2 brings back a more classic Call of Duty multiplayer experience than we’ve seen in recent years, with maps better tailored to traditional 6v6 play and dialed-back movement mechanics. Modern Warfare 2’s gameplay really feels like a refreshing return to old times again for Call of Duty, but unfortunately, the package as a whole feels lacking and gun customization is overly complex.
As a whole, Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer is the fast-paced shooter you expect it to be. The standard maps are scaled down for 6v6 matches this year, so there are less quiet and campy moments, and you’re almost always finding yourself in the thick of the action. Modern Warfare 2 does dial back the overly fast-paced movement of recent years too, but that doesn’t mean you can’t choose a run-and-gun playstyle. The gameplay is just a bit less twitchy too, as the movement feels more on par with the original Modern Warfare series than the 2019 version.
Sliding doesn’t quite feel as fast and fluid as Modern Warfare 2019 and the bunny-hopping movement has been nerfed a little since the beta. You can still hop around a corner, but there’s not a build-up of an overly-aggressive speed that lets you start hopping all over the map. This makes the multiplayer movement feel more grounded and slower-paced than the last few entries of the franchise, which is a great change. The last few years of Call of Duty has left the majority of the casual player base at a disadvantage in trying to counter the hopping and sliding frenzy.

‘Dark Souls 2’ PC multiplayer servers are back online after a nine-month outage
Dark Souls 2 players can once again team up and square off against each other on PC after FromSoftware reactivated the servers. The studio and publisher Bandai Namco switched off the online components for all Dark Souls games on PC back in January in order to tackle a security issue that allowed hijackers to take over players’ systems. Nine months later, From and Bandai Namco have restored online features for the DirectX 11 version of Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. The company said it will reactivate the servers for the DirectX 9 version at a later date.
On the downside, don’t expect to play the online modes of the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition on PC again. “We have determined that we will not be able to support online services for the PC version of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition that was released in 2012, due to an aging system,” a statement on the Dark Souls Twitter account, as spotted by Polygon, reads. “We apologize for the long wait and ask for your understanding in this matter.” That said, work is ongoing to bring back co-op and player-vs-player modes for 2018’s Dark Souls Remastered on PC, but there’s no timeline for that as yet.
As for Dark Souls 3, From and Bandai Namco restored the servers back in August. They originally aimed to revive online services for all the Dark Souls games by the time they released Elden Ring in February, but were unsuccessful in their attempts to meet that deadline.
Online features for the PC version of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (DX11) have been reactivated.
Online features for the base version of #DarkSouls II for PC (DX9) will be made available at a later date.

Asymmetric multiplayer Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed busts out today
I used to think Ghostbusters was a fantasy about having a cool car and a slidey pole in your house. Now that I’m an adult I realise it’s actually a fantasy about having ample free time to hang out with your friends in New York. But I suppose it’s also about bustin’ ghosts, which is what Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed’s asymmetric multiplayer replicates. It’s out today.
Modern Warfare 2 will give you a tonne of multiplayer rewards for finishing the campaign
As we approach the launch of Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward and Activision have revealed several incentives to get you to play – and finish – the game’s campaign. Call of Duty is clearly going all out this year to drum up enthusiasm for what’s traditionally been the game’s least-played mode.
Like with the beta rewards before them, there are 17 unlocks up for grabs here, and one – the most significant – tied to finishing the campaign. The rewards will be available for use in multiplayer, Special Ops, and in Warzone 2.0 when it launches on November 16.
Each reward is likely tied to finishing certain missions, though the developer did not specify. Nevertheless, if you get early access to the campaign on October 20 by pre-ordering Modern Warfare 2, your unlocks will be ready to use at the launch of multiplayer a week later.
