Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield SNUBBED by National Television Awards — but co-star gets nom
TELLY’S golden daytime duo Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have been snubbed in the nominations for this year’s National Television Awards.
The final shortlists have been unveiled for the glitzy night of gowns and major gongs voted for by the public.
Britain’s Got Talent remains a favourite with viewers, with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Co up for the talent show gong[/caption]
But This Morning’s Holly and Phillip have failed to reach the final stage of voting in the best presenter category.
The ITV show’s bubbly co-host Alison Hammond has grabbed the nomination instead — alongside Ant and Dec, who are named for the 21st year in a row.
This Morning will be jostling with ratings-grabber The Chase, The Repair Shop — in its earlier slot — and Loose Women in the battle for the daytime award.
Simon Cowell has also missed out on a chance of silverware in another snub by viewers.

The mogul lost out in the talent show judge category against newcomers Anton Du Beke, for Strictly Come Dancing, and Mo Gilligan, for The Masked Singer.
But his Britain’s Got Talent remains a favourite with viewers, with Simon, Amanda Holden and Co up for the talent show gong.
Their rivals are RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Masked Singer and Strictly — with Rose Ayling-Ellis a popular champion last year.
But it looks like the streaming services such as Netflix and Prime Video are already big winners — with more original shows from the platforms nominated than ever before.

EXPERT AWE FOR COOPER
SIR David Attenborough faces a surprising rival in the new “expert” category at the National Television Awards.
The legendary documentarian, 96, is up against Clarkson’s Farm grafter Kaleb Cooper.
The 24-year-old from Chipping Norton has wowed viewers with his efforts to put Jeremy Clarkson in his place.
Kaleb said: “I mean, I know who my vote goes to straight away, which is the best of all, Sir David Attenborough.”
The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades and finance expert Martin Lewis are also in contention.
Coming of age heartwarmer Heartstopper, Ricky Gervais’ After Life, Clarkson’s Farm and regency romp Bridgerton all got nods in a number of categories.
A telly insider said: “The NTAs produce surprises year in, year out and that’s all down to the fact it is voted for by viewers. There’s no box-ticking, or careful balancing act between channels, just good, honest opinions.
“Changing viewing habits continue to throw curveballs into the nominations too, with Netflix nabbing a whopping eight nods despite it losing out at the TV Baftas.”
Bridgerton’s nod has cemented its position with fans despite the second series, starring Simone Ashley, being widely panned by critics.
The Wanted’s Tom Parker could get a posthumous win for his documentary Inside My Head. He lost his brain cancer fight in March.
Kate Garraway’s second film on her husband Derek’s struggle with Covid is also nominated, as is Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family and Autism.

NEIGHBOURS ARE KNOCKIN’
NEIGHBOURS could scoop an award despite the Aussie mega-hit ending after 37 years.
Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Guy Pearce, Margot Robbie and Natalie Imbruglia — who all found fame on Ramsay Street — returned for the emotional final episode last month.
Insiders think the send-off will stay with affectionate viewers and ensure it will land the serial drama award.
But it faces tough competition from the British heavyweight trio of Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale.

Apple kicks off fundraising effort to support US National Parks via Apple Pay donations
Apple Celebrates U.S. National Parks With Apple Pay Donations, Apple Watch Challenge, and More
Starting today, Apple is donating $10 to the National Park Foundation for every Apple Pay purchase on apple.com, the Apple Store app, or at an Apple Store in the U.S. Last year, Apple’s support for the National Park Foundation helped young people participate in a service corps program at national parks.
As part of the celebration, Apple is showcasing relevant content and educational resources across its services, such as a curated Native American history guide in Apple Maps and collections of episodes centering on Indigenous voices in the Podcasts app.
Apple Watch users can earn a limited edition National Parks Activity Challenge award later this week. On August 27, users can earn the award by completing a hike, walk, run, or wheelchair workout of a mile or more.

National Parks Apple Watch Activity Challenge Launching on August 27
Apple will ask Apple Watch owners to complete a hike, walk, run, or wheelchair workout of a mile to earn a special National Parks award.
Let’s celebrate the beauty of national parks everywhere. On August 27, earn this award by recording a hike, walk, run, or wheelchair workout of a mile (1.6K) or more with any app that adds workouts to Health.
Like all Activity Challenges, the award will be accompanied by animated stickers that can be used in the Messages app.
Apple always celebrates national parks in August, typically introducing an Apple Pay donation program, Apple TV+ content, Apple Music songs, books, podcasts, and more focused on national parks.
