NVIDIA looks set to reveal its next-gen GeForce RTX GPUs on September 20th
NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference goes down this month and the company has revealed when CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote will take place. You’ll be able to watch it on NVIDIA’s website at 11AM ET on September 20th. The keynote will kick off with a GeForce Beyond special broadcast, which will also stream on Twitch and YouTube.
The company says the event will include “the latest breakthroughs in gaming, creating and graphics technology.” NVIDIA is expected to reveal its RTX 40-series graphics cards during the broadcast — an image the company shared to promote the event includes the GeForce RTX Logo. NVIDIA previously said it would release its first Ampere Next-based GPUs this year. Those will supplant graphics cards with the current Ampere architecture.
It remains to be seen just how well the RTX 40-series cards will perform. In the meantime, the 30-series GPUs are finally readily available after the cryptocurrency market cratered.
The Dreamcast lives on with a new ‘next-gen’ iteration of its iconic VMU memory card
Sega may have long since left console manufacturing behind, but the Dreamcast remains one of the longest-lived games consoles going, with fans ever so occasionally putting out new Dreamcast releases. The system has a cult following – the Dreamcast never dies.
The latest new development in Dreamcast technology is now available to be backed on crowd-funding site Indiegogo – and it’s a curious upgrade to one of the system’s most unique features – its VMU memory cards.
For those of you who aren’t rapidly hurtling towards their forties or indeed already there, the VMU (Visual Memory Unit) was a fascinating take on the memory cards of the time, making them interactive and fun rather than simply a slab of plastic that held your save data. Original VMUs contained a little LCD screen that could display information from the game you’re currently playing – providing a very rudimentary two-screen experience years before the Nintendo DS would do the same with far more utility.
The Next-Gen Witcher 3 Release Is Still On Track For This Year
The next-gen release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still on track for release this year, CD Projekt has confirmed in its latest earnings call, with the slide showing a Q4 2022 release window. The release will be a “Complete Edition” of Witcher 3 including all its expansions, with all content enhanced for next-gen consoles. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game will also come with all-new free DLCs inspired by the Witcher Netflix series.
The slides released with CD Projekt’s latest earning’s call show that the majority of CD Projekt’s development teams are currently assigned to Phantom Liberty, the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, with the next largest team working on the next Witcher game.
