Creative director of Midnight Suns says it was originally even more talky: ‘we cut 30 conversations’
Marvel’s Midnight Suns was originally going to have loads more story chats in it
Marvel’s Midnight Suns may be a turn-based tactics game first and foremost, but it also has a substantial RPG element that drives both the story and the interpersonal dramas of its superhero teams between missions. When you and your squad head back to your Abbey HQ, there are side stories and quests to investigate around the Abbey grounds, items to find, and more. It’s a sizable part of the game, but at one point it was even bigger, creative director Jake Solomon tells me at GDC.
“It’s crazy, if you go online, you can see all the Midnight Suns cutscenes and they’re three hours long. That’s as long as a movie,” he says. But during the last year of development Solomon reveals “we cut 30 conversations from the game, like 30 scenes. We cut a ton, because we realised this is just simply too much.”
iOS 17 Rumored to Have ‘Fewer Major Changes Than Originally Planned’ as Apple Shifts Focus to AR/VR Headset
Apple has been working on its AR/VR headset and its accompanying operating system, xrOS, for several years. With the launch of the headset now expected in 2023, Apple’s engineers have been focusing less on other operating systems, including the upcoming iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 updates, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman says iOS 17, which is internally codenamed Dawn, could end up having “fewer major changes than originally planned” due to Apple focusing more on xrOS for the upcoming headset. Gurman says a similar approach is taking place with macOS 14, codenamed Sunburst.
iOS 14, announced in 2020, and iOS 16, announced last June, were two significant updates, bringing redesigned widgets to the iPhone Home Screen, App Library, new features in stock apps like Maps and Safari, a redesigned lock screen, and more. iOS 17, alongside iPadOS 17, macOS 14, and watchOS 10, will be announced during WWDC in June.

Andor’s Torture Device Originally Had a Sound to Go With It
The creatively cruel ways the Empire tortures Rebels have been vividly showcased on Andor, like floors with the power to fry people. But there’s none more disturbing than Imperial Security Bureau officer Dedra Meero’s weapon of choice: headphones that play the sounds of a species that can transmit their painful death…
Bayonetta 3 took so long because it was originally conceived as semi-open world
Bayonetta 3 took quite a while to come out as we all know, and that’s partially because the game was originally scoped as a semi-open world game.
The third entry in the action series was revealed back at The Game Awards in 2017, and we basically didn’t hear much about it for a number of years after. According to games journalist Imran Khan, as shared on his Patreon, that’s because the game was planned to be semi-open world, something that would have been quite the change from the previous entries in the series.
Explaining the various reasons as to why the game took so long, Khan wrote, “The answers are mostly not shocking — it was announced very early, there was a pandemic that really slowed things down, the initial director left fairly early on in the project, etc. But another reasons that most people don’t know is that, at one point in development, Bayonetta 3 was scoped as a semi-open world game.”

Halloween Ends’ Kyle Richards Originally Wasn’t Going To Be In The Movie
One of the surprising highlights of 2021’s Halloween Kills was the return of Kyle Richards as Lindsay, a character she played in the 1978 original. While so much of the Halloween franchise has been about the aftermath of that horrible night for Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), Halloween Kills reminded us that she wasn’t then only one terrorized by Michael Myers back then. With that in mind, it made perfect sense when it was revealed that Richards would figure, once again, into the final chapter of this current trilogy of films, Halloween Ends. As revealed by the actress herself, though, that wasn’t originally the case.
“I was originally not in Halloween Ends,” Richards told GameSpot. “They wrote me into the already written script after Halloween Kills.”
While, ultimately, Lindsay doesn’t play a major role in the new film, Richards notes she was “just grateful to be a part of it in whatever capacity.” What’s more, she was plenty happy to “get my jabs in” on Michael in Halloween Kills. For fans, seeing Lindsay and Laurie together again in any capacity should be a welcome visual.
