Players don’t like ’em, so Blizzard’s changing ’em
Blizzard announces an Overwatch 2 update to its newest support hero, with Lifeweaver buffs on the cards and, crucially, a fix for the Lifeweaver control scheme that appears to make just about all the changes we were hoping for. The multiplayer game’s newest support hero might be glamorous, but his gameplay certainly was not, with players decrying his ‘clunky’ layout at the start of Overwatch 2 season 4.

Overwatch 2 Season 4 has arrived, bringing a new hero, Lifeweaver, alongside some changes to the game, like the removal of map pools in Competitive Mode. In addition to these changes, the new content is a brand-new battle pass, featuring 80 tiers of rewards, including a mythical Sigma skin. This season’s battle pass is space opera-themed, offering up some cosmetics that wouldn’t look out of place in Star Wars. This ties into some skins that will be available later in the season and an upcoming event, Starwatch: Galactic Rescue. This includes the Galactic Emperor Sigma skin, the tier 80 reward, along with the Infinite Seer Mercy, Intergalactic Smuggler Ashe, and Extraterrestrial Winston.
Blizzard has announced two events for this season, Starwatch and a Pride event, with the latter kicking off in June, which is Pride month. In addition to this new content and upcoming events, Blizzard has made a few highly requested updates. On the Competitive front, rank decay has been removed, so players will no longer automatically drop to a lower rank at the start of the season. Season 4 also marks the removal of the map pool, no longer restricting which maps are available to be played on. Some smaller changes include a visible group skill rating for each time at the start of a competitive match and players can now see their own win-loss record for the mode.
There is also a new hero, Lifeweaver, a support hero who can grab teammates from a distance and pull them to safety. Like previous heroes, Lifeweaver is automatically unlocked with the premium version of the battle pass or at tier 45 of the free version. Lifeweaver will also be unavailable to play in Competitive for the first two weeks of the season, providing an opportunity to learn the hero in quick play before selecting him in a competitive match. Here’s everything you can unlock in the Overwatch Season 4 battle pass.
Yesterday, the first round of Overwatch League play in 2023 concluded with the league’s first-ever pro-am tournament. Seven amateur teams from the North American and EMEA regions qualified for the right to play against the professional Overwatch teams of the west.
I love me some Tier 2 Overwatch (better known as Overwatch Contenders). Some of the most exciting games in all of competitive Overwatch’s history have been Contenders matches. For years now, the competitive Overwatch community has been asking for more recognition and support for the teams and the league that act as the foundation for the Overwatch League proper.
Most Contenders teams are sorely under-resourced. They’re usually made up of teens and young adults who practice and…
Lifeweaver is the latest hero coming to Overwatch in Season 4 dropping April 11th. As his name alludes to, Lifeweaver is the newest Support hero addition. Finally, another support. Here’s everything you need to know about Lifeweaver’s kit before Overwatch Season 4 launches.
Lifeweaver is definitely more of a utility based healer. He isn’t the strongest healer on the roster, especially since his big burst of healing takes a few seconds to charge up, but his actual abilities are his strongest suit that will aid his team in winning big fights.
Healing Blossom: Hold to charge a healing burst of 65 or you can fire individual bursts for minimum healing if you need the speedy recovery.
Thorn Volley: Switch to an alternate fire to fire an SMG like spread of projectiles. Distanced firing isn’t as great for this since it does have a bigger bloom.
Petal Platform: platform thrown on the ground that will lift anyone up when stepped on
Rejuvenating Dash: Dash the direction you’re moving and get a slight boost of health
Life Grip: Pull an ally to your direction, horizontally and vertically and give them a slight bubble when they get pulled
Parting Gift: When you die, you drop a health boost that heals the first enemy or ally who picks it up
Support: Heal over Time
Tree of Life: Summon a spiritual tree that instantly heals allies in pulses and continues to do so until it runs out
There will be so many useful ability synergies between Lifeweaver and his other teammates. It’ll be interesting to see how Lifeweaver will be played, especially in ranked. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on more Overwatch 2 Season 4 news as soon as it drops.
