Amazon pulls the plug on its Halo fitness products
Apparently, Amazon has seen enough when it comes to its Halo division.
Only a few years after its first product came out, Amazon is shutting down the fitness-focused Halo brand, The Verge reported. As of Aug. 1, all Halo devices and the Halo app will stop functioning. Per a staff email seen by The Verge, that also means there will be “role reductions” within the organization, AKA layoffs.
Amazon confirmed the news in a blog post, where it was also revealed that Halo health data will be deleted on Aug. 1 as well. Halo only ever released three products, starting with the simplistic wearable fitness tracker Halo Band in 2020. That was succeeded by Halo View a year later, while a bedside sleep tracker called Halo Rise was launched less than a year ago.
All three products have been pulled from Amazon’s digital storefront already. Wearable fitness trackers are part of a very crowded marketplace, and Halo just couldn’t make a dent.
Regardless, it’s always sad to see people lose their jobs, especially when they work for one of the most profitable companies on the planet.
TP-Link Launches Matter-Certified Kasa Smart Plug With Energy Monitoring
Matter-compatible devices that are added to a HomeKit setup work the same as HomeKit-enabled devices as long as there is a HomeKit Matter hub, which includes the HomePod, HomePod mini, iPad, and Apple TV. If other people in the home use a different device compatible with a smart home platform from Amazon, Google, or Samsung, the Kasa Smart Plug can be used with that platform as well provided an appropriate Matter hub is available.
The Kasa Smart KP125M provides scheduling and timer capabilities, plus it can be used to monitor energy consumption over time for keeping an eye on energy costs.
According to TP-Link, the KP125M features a compact and flame-retardant design that is meant to keep it from blocking additional outlets. It is designed to work over Bluetooth, and with HomeKit setups, it can be used with the Home app and with Siri voice commands.
The KP125M Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug Slim is priced at $40 for a two-pack, and it can be purchased from Amazon.com.

Plug in all the things with this 12-gang power tower
Duronic do a good range of electricals, and today the only one I’ve actually bought is reduced on Amazon: a 12-gang power tower, basically a power extension lead with a supportive base that points the unit towards the sky. This particular model normally costs £18, but today has been reduced to £14.99.
