The UrbanRebel Racing Concept is an incredible electric racer with 400hp – there is nothing boring about this EV
THE first thing anyone asks about a new electric car these days is, “How far does it go?”
Rather than, “How fast does it go?”
Which does make the future of motoring sound disappointingly boring.
Cupra won’t say how far the UrbanRebel Racing concept will go on a single charge. Or indeed how quickly it can recharge.
But that’s all right with me because the answer to the second question is: Very.
This thing is hilariously fast and playful, on dirt or tarmac.
And you’ll want to keep on throwing it at every apex . . . until the battery runs out.
As the first journalist in the world to get behind the wheel of UrbanRebel at the Montmelo rallycross circuit in Spain, I can confirm there is absolutely nothing boring about this EV.
It forces you to re-evaluate your sensible perception of e-mobility.
I could hardly hear a word pro driver Jordi Gené was trying to tell me as he slammed this pocket e-rocket through the infield’s twisty turns.
“It’s the gearbox! It’s right behind your head!” he yelled.
A far cry from the serenely silent glide and comfort of a sensible Cupra Born.
So it looks and sounds like a thoroughbred race car — albeit from the inside. From the outside it just sounds a bit odd.
More flexible with its on-demand torque deployment and brake regeneration than an internal combustion-engined racer, it handles like a fat go-kart on amphetamines.
But at 1,350kg, she’s about 350kg heavier than she would be if she had petrol running through her veins.
“She’s much heavier than she looks” Jordi yells, as I find out how much pressure is needed on the brake pedal to avoid a whoopsie on my out lap.
But it’s only under physical braking that you ever feel the weight that physics can’t deny — so my tip is just dab them for positioning, flick out the tail and get drifting.
Capable of sprinting from 0-62mph when the lights go green in just 3.2seconds, this dual-motor 4WD racer delivers 335hp of continuous power with a boost option of 430hp.
But it sure feels like more with its lightning linear acceleration and bone-shaking ride.
This riotous little yob does not like standing still.
So much so that they didn’t bother with a “park” button. Just D for “drive” and N for “neutral”.
Everything else is typical rally car with the obligatory roll cage, trick stick (hydraulic handbrake), fire extinguisher, and a big red emergency stop button.
Just don’t expect these as options on the roadgoing Cupra UrbanRebel — the sensible evolution of this ballistic experiment that’s scheduled for release in 2025. That will be a very different car.
It will have five doors for starters and feature all sorts of 3D-knitted bio-materials and recycled polymers in a futuristically spacious cabin.
It will also be front-wheel drive and 235hp, with a range of around 270 miles.
Cupra will also make small EVs for Volkswagen and Skoda in Spain, priced between £20k-£25k.
But we’re told UrbanRebel will be the most powerful, priciest and prettiest . . . as well as being the first to go on sale.
It’s fair to say Cupra, once the sporty sub-division of Seat, is the new darling of the VW Group and is being pushed as a fresh, disruptive global brand.
It won’t be long before Cupra sales eclipse Seat’s own.
We clearly like what we see with Britain currently Cupra’s second biggest-selling market in the world, behind Germany.
The UrbanRebel will help keep that momentum, showing that Cupra is serious about bringing excitement to the EV world.
Serious with performance, serious with disruptive design and serious in vying to be the non-boring electric car you will want.

I’m racing to buy dirt-cheap income stocks before it’s too late
Income stocks have had a terrific year but they are starting to look more expensive as the FTSE 100 climbs higher. Have I left it too late to buy more?

Need For Speed Unbound Review – Comic Book Racing
The first thing that jumps out when starting Need for Speed Unbound is its vibrant art style. At a time when most other racing games are striving for photorealism, EA’s latest distinguishes itself from the rest of the grid by adopting a stylized mix between reality and comic books. While its cars land on the side of realism, the characters behind the wheel are cel-shaded and its open world falls somewhere in between the two aesthetics. Vivid graffiti-style flourishes also pop up when you activate nitrous or fly off a ramp, and drifting kicks up colorful tire smoke that looks hand-drawn, with all of these effects punctuating the action with a unique sense of style.
There aren’t any modern racing games that look quite like it, yet the rest of Unbound feels like a continuation of 2019’s Need for Speed Heat. From the distinction between day and night races to the cat-and-mouse chase that occurs when you have to outrun the cops and make it to a safe house in order to bank your money. Unbound doesn’t attempt to reinvent the wheel, but what’s here maintains the series’ recent quality, even if there are some wrong turns along the way.
As is now customary in Need for Speed games, Unbound features a rather forgettable story about getting back at a former friend who stole your ride. There’s little point in delving into details because, ultimately, it’s inconsequential. Cutscenes are sprinkled in every now and then, but for the most part, the story is just sort of there, happening in the background as you drive around the city, so at least it’s unobtrusive. There’s some fun incidental dialogue every now and then, including one mission where you’re traveling with a “weeb racer” who spends the whole journey telling you about the history of anime and how it definitely isn’t a cartoon. Rapper A$AP Rocky also makes an appearance (because why not?) and it feels like he was given a microphone and free rein to say whatever came to mind. It’s a moment that stands out in a game that’s filled to the brim with ancillary dialogue. Aside from this, the story is relatively easy to ignore, but it does succeed in giving impetus to the game’s structure.
Garfield Kart: Furious Racing Is Free On PC
There are a ton of big discounts on games right now for Black Friday, but you can’t beat the price of absolutely nothing when it comes to scoring a new game for your collection. Right now, everyone’s favorite kart-racing game, Garfield Kart: Furious Racing, is available for free on PC through Fanatical.
Though “favorite” might be a strong word here, you can’t argue with the non-existent price for this deal. If you’re looking to entertain your kids, then seeing Garfield burn rubber while facing off against Odie, Nermal, Jon, and other characters from the newspaper strip, is an easy sell. Just don’t expect Lyman to appear in the roster, he has been mysteriously missing. Remember, don’t look in Jon’s basement.

Fortnite’s Polo Ralph Lauren Crossover Brings Racing Chic To Battle Royale

Beginning Saturday, November 5, you can find a number of new character skins and other accessories celebrating the iconic racing-inspired clothing line.
Two new characters, Stadium Hero ’92 and Polo Prodigy, will debut as part of the Polo Stadium Collection Set, and each can be completed with available accessories such as gliders, back bling, and more. Here’s everything new coming to the Fortnite Item Shop this weekend:
- Stadium Hero ’92 skin (with three alternate styles)
- Polo Prodigy skin (with one alternate style)
- Racerback back bling
- Stadium Collector pickaxe
- Stadium Drifter glider
- P-Wing Pack back bling
- 1992 Mallet pickaxe
- Victory Colors emote
- Back Into The Arena loading screen
Prices have not yet been revealed, though some lucky few can earn both skins and their related back bling items not just a day early on November 4, but entirely for free, too. To unlock the skins for free, players must qualify in the Polo Stadium Cup, a Zero Build tournament played in solo queues this Friday. It will be accessible via the game’s Competitive menu.
