The dismal state of Diablo 4, Season 3 plays right into the hand of its next big competitor – Last Epoch
It seems Diablo 4’s troubles are very much not behind it. After it looked like Blizzard had learned some key lessons from the reaction to the game’s launch, and the disastrous first post-launch balance patch, the developer has seemingly – and inexplicably – reset the clock with Season 3.
Season of the Construct is a strange step backwards in both its focus, along with the mechanics and seasonal quest it introduced. It makes it appear fairly slight for what is the third major content update. You could tell that Blizzard knew it, too, having very quickly tried to make the best of the situation with wide-sweeping buffs, and other changes that lessen the effects of Season 3’s controversial mechanics. All of that is especially alarming coming off the solid Season 2, which truly made it feel like the game had started coming into its own.
As luck would have it, however, the current situation has played right into the hands of Diablo 4’s first big competitor this year: Last Epoch.

Halo Season 2 Review – New But Not Improved
Halo Season 2 exists in this weird limbo, apparently unwilling to deal with Season 1’s two biggest dangling plot threads–the Chief possibly being possessed by Cortana, and also having ancient magic Halo DNA–and instead replacing them with a seemingly new mystery that I have no meaningful grasp on after watching the first four episodes.
It’s not a miserable slog by any means, though. The action is quite good, and the cast is putting in work–particularly Danny Sapani as Captain Keyes, who gets the best scene of the half of the season I’ve seen, and Bokeem Woodbine’s Soren. But with the story moving away from those, ah, controversial elements of Season 1 and dropping an obtuse mystery in its place, the show has become bewildering in all new ways.
It’s also bewildering in one very familiar way: Like the first season before it, Season 2 of Halo bears only superficial resemblance to the source material. It’s a show that takes a bunch of Halo terms and proper nouns and goes in its own, mostly original direction with them. That’s a frustrating thing, but hardly a deal breaker if that new direction is good or interesting. While it certainly manages to be interesting, at least in an abstract way, it’d be a stretch to call it “good” at this stage. The back half of the season could change that, but it’s not there yet.

Star Wars Fans Wanting Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Should “Write To Disney,” Ewan McGregor Says
Star Wars actor and tea enthusiast Ewan McGregor has called on fans to help convince Disney to greenlight a second series of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The first season ran for six episodes in 2022 and starred McGregor in his signature role as the popular Jedi master, but since then, Disney has been more focused on The Mandalorian and future Star Wars film projects.
Speaking at MegaCon Orlando 2024, McGregor revealed how there were originally plans to film an Obi-Wan Kenobi film before Disney settled on producing a TV series. That format worked out well for fleshing out Kenobi’s years in exile after the fall of the Republic, and McGregor believes that there are still more Kenobi stories left to tell.
It was originally going to be a movie, but I kind of think it’s better we did it that way. It’s a longer story and more satisfying as a result,” McGregor said. “We got more time to weave a story. I just hope we do another one. Can everyone write to Disney? Just say ‘Dear Disney, let’s have a bit more of Obi-Wan Kenobi please.'”
