Obsidian director reveals details on SEGA’s shelved Aliens RPG
We’ve learned more details about the canned SEGA Aliens RPG courtesy of Josh Sawyer, studio design director at Obsidian who apparently was working on the project between 2006 – 2009.
These details make a long-gone heartache come back with greater intensity, like seeing a long-forgotten ex thriving as they go about their weekly food shop. An Aliens RPG would have been lush, especially when you consider the pedigree of the team behind it.
“Obsidian didn’t have directors at that time, just leads who were all considered peers. It resulted in a lot of dysfunction when the leads didn’t agree on how to do something,” writes Sawyer in a Twitter thread. “Progress on the game was very slow, especially when it came to creating workable game levels. We had another game in development with SEGA at the time, Alpha Protocol, and SEGA (understandably, IMO) shelved Aliens in favor of AP.”

Star Wars films from Kevin Feige and Patty Jenkins have reportedly been shelved
The Star Wars production slate just got a little smaller. According to a report from Variety, a pair of upcoming Star Wars films from Marvel president Kevin Feige and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is no longer in development.
We first heard about a potential Star Wars film from Feige and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy back in 2019, but sources close to the situation tell Variety it’s been shelved. The same goes for the Rogue Squadron movie Jenkins was working on, which isn’t all that surprising given its production was delayed in 2021 and pushed back again last year. In December, Jenkins expressed uncertainty about the future of the film, noting at the time she didn’t “know if it will happen or not.”
Despite these setbacks, V…
Kevin Feige And Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars Movies Shelved, But Not Taika Waititi’s – Report
Movies previously on track for the Star Wars universe from Marvel boss Kevin Feige and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins are no longer in active development, according to a new report by Variety.
In Variety’s analysis, unnamed sources with knowledge of both productions say that the surprise success of underdog Mandlorian, and it outpacing expectations for The Rise of Skywalker has led to a change in strategy for the franchise. Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron was scheduled to come out in December 2023, until it was pulled from Lucasfilm’s release schedule last September with little explanation. Feige’s Star Wars feature was still untitled, and not much was known about the project.

Microsoft’s streaming device Keystone shelved because it was too expensive, says Spencer
Microsoft was looking to get into the game streaming business with its own device, codenamed Keystone, but apparently, what the team designed would have been too expensive for consumers.
This is according to the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer, who told The Verge the team decided instead to focus its effort on delivering the smart TV streaming app to Samsung sets (thanks, ResetEra).
Back in May, a report surfaced stating that Microsoft was getting into the games streaming business with an Amazon Fire TV Stick-like device. The report was accurate, Microsoft decided on “a new approach.”
