New Zelda: Tears Of the Kingdom Trailer Showcases More Of The Game And New Amiibo
The latest Nintendo Direct gave us a new look at its biggest game coming in the first half of this year, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The new trailer mostly showcases more gameplay but also teases more of the game’s story, which seems to be quite tragic, much like its predecessor (or most Zelda games, if we’re being honest).
It’s not all doom and gloom, however! Following the trailer reveal, Nintendo also announced that Tears of the Kingdom is getting an accompanying Amiibo. The Amiibo is of Link, adorned in the outfit he’s seen wearing in most Tears of the Kingdom trailers. It will be released on May 12, and be sold separately from the game.
The focus of this Nintendo Direct was said to be “mostly” on games coming in the first half of 2023, and Tears of the Kingdom is the biggest one of the bunch. It’s slated for May 12, 2023, having been delayed out of 2022. The cryptic trailers have raised a lot of speculation over radical changes to the Zelda formula that could be coming in this installment, but so far none of those have been confirmed. HBO’s The Last Of Us Showcases The Real Queer Agenda: To Live Long And Happily
What was buried in 2013’s The Last of Us was not forgotten–not entirely anyway. Instead, the bitter end to Bill and Frank’s relationship in Naughty Dog’s original game bloomed into one of the most beautiful love stories to unfold on screen. And while a lack of queer love stories in media no doubt contributed to some of the standalone episode’s success, what makes the story of Bill and Frank in the third episode of HBO’s live-action The Last of Us so powerful is how much we needed its unwavering optimism.
Warning: The following contains spoilers for the third episode of HBO’s The Last of Us. If you’re not caught up, head over to HBO Max to do so.
To see Bill and Frank’s relationship blossom the way it does would be meaningful during any time in history, but to see it now is crucial. Witnessing a story of pure, unwavering queer love when so much of the world seems so desperately set against the LGBTQIA+ community, showcases exactly what queer love is capable of, even when it feels like everything is crashing down around us.
The latest Super Mario Bros. Movie teaser showcases Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong
The latest Super Mario Bros. Movie teaser lets us hear Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong for the first time. During the clip, Mario faces off against Donkey Kong in an arena of sorts — just like we’ve seen in the previous trailer — but this trailer expands on the scene.
While it seems like Mario’s on the losing side of the battle, this appears to change when the titular plumber hits a question mark block, and (presumably) gets the Super Bell, transforming him into Cat Mario. Seeing Mario in his adorably fuzzy catsuit sends Donkey Kong into a laughing fit, which gives us a chance to hear Rogen’s signature laugh.
It’s nice to finally hear Rogen as Donkey Kong, and I have to…
