Owami Davies: Missing student nurse could be sleeping rough
Trouble sleeping? Maybe it’s time for a new mattress — the Layla Hybrid is $200 off for a limited time.
SAVE $200: As of Aug. 17, the Layla Hybrid Mattress is $200 off the usual price (and comes with two free pillows). Get a queen size for just $1,499.
Sleep is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Without sufficient rest, your whole life can become a lot more difficult. It’s harder to focus, harder to perform your daily tasks, and harder to recover from the day before. Then you just end up falling into an endless cycle where you’re tired all the time.
And if the reason you’re not getting your best sleep is more because of your mattress than your actual bedtime, here’s your opportunity to fix that. Layla is having an early Labor Day sale, and their high-end flippable Hybrid Mattress (“hybrid” meaning it employs both memory foam and coils in its construction) is on sale for $200 off the usual price, just $1,499 for a queen size. Plus, you’ll get two free pillows.
One unique feature separates Layla’s mattress from the rest of the online bed-in-a-box brands you know and love: Its flippable nature. The fact that the Layla Hybrid bed can be flipped and used in different ways makes it a no-brainer for those who change up their sleep position at a moment’s notice. Craving a softer mattress one night, but a firmer one the next? Layla is both — all you have to do is flip. And with seven separate layers for extra cooling and support, you can’t go wrong.

Slacking nurse struck off after binge-watching Netflix and sleeping on the job
A NURSE who slept on duty, binge watched Netflix for hours and bullied an elderly woman patient has been struck off.
Staff said Susan Hughes watched the TV service with headphones in while doing paperwork — which she admitted.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council also heard she slept with her feet on the desk at Charlotte House Care Home, in Bebington, Wirral, which she denied.
Hughes was ruled to have put a crying patient at risk by dragging and throwing her on a bed.
One witness said: “Susan used to watch Netflix every night and would finish watching it at around 10.30pm after she had finished the medication.
“She would watch it for hours on end. She would watch it in the reception area on her phone with ear phones in.”

Another witness said: “I saw Susan sleep on duty every shift I worked with her. She would be on reception with her feet on the desk.
“She used to sleep for an hour and a half around 5.30am or 5.45am before starting the morning medication round at 7am.”
