Fans have likely spent endless seasons in the comfort of Stardew Valley, and now the chill life sim is getting even bigger. Stardew Valley’s creator Eric Barone (otherwise known as ConcernedApe) is “taking a break” from working on his highly-anticipated Haunted Chocolatier. Barone will instead work on Stardew Valley’s upcoming 1.6 update, which focuses on improvements for modders, alongside some new content as well.
Eric Barone, the sole creator of the hit farming-simulator and RPG, Stardew Valley, has temporarily paused development on his upcoming game, Haunted Chocolatier. The new game is another simulation-RPG, anticipated to be much darker than its spiritual predecessor.
Barone hasn’t detailed exactly how long he is pausing development for, but it is only temporary. The pause in development comes as a result of the Stardew Valley 1.6 update, which Barone announced during the summer of last year.
While we were told the grand 1.5 update for Stardew Valley would be the last big content update of its kind back in 2021, Barone clearly can’t stay away, and neither can fans. The 1.6 update will add new content to the game, but not at all on the same scale that the 1.5 update did. The new update will also feature more tools and resources for modders, and while Barone works to get it live, he’s had to halt his work on Haunted Chocolatier in the meantime.
Looking for the best Stardew Valley mods? The mod scene has been thriving on PC despite having no official Steam Workshop support. Dedicated modders have been working to alter almost everything available in the game, from adding game-breaking cheats like god mode to texture overhauls that turn Stardew Valley into a pixelated fairytale.
Despite thousands of daily concurrent players still enjoying the base indie game, Stardew Valley is getting on a bit, so we can’t blame you for wanting to shake things up. Thankfully, and predictably, the modding community is here to help bring other IPs to the valley, along with new maps and even improvements to married life. We’ve compiled our favourite Stardew Valley mods that celebrate the creativity of the modding scene. Here are our top picks that provide visual overhauls, gameplay changes, and, yes, even some cheats, making one of the best PC games even better.

It takes a particular type of farming game to really hook me in these days, but Lightyear Frontier‘s crop-planting mechs might just be the thing I’ve been looking for. Everything I’ve seen of Frame Break’s futuristic life sim looks delightful so far, and in a recent ID@Xbox showcase, the developers told us a bit more about how it’s going to operate, and whether those Stardew Valley comparisons are on the money.
When asked whether players would be able to befriend NPCs like other Stardew-likes, Frame Break’s CEO Joakim Hedström told us: “In short, yes. We don’t have a full town like Stardew, but the characters that are there, you’ll be able to get to know better and learn their stories.”
If there’s anything Stardew Valley fans want, it’s more Stardew — and that’s now the case for anyone playing the cozy life sim on iOS or Android. The game is available on just about every platform out there (personally I play it on the Nintendo Switch, which is perfect), but Stardew’s mobile fans were left […]
Stardew Valley’s big update is now available for iOS and Android by Taylor Hatmaker originally published on TechCrunch
At long last, mobile players of Stardew Valley can meet new NPC Leo or build their very own beach farms, as the 1.5 update has finally made its way onto Android and iOS devices.
It’s been a long time coming, considering the 1.5 update launched for PC and console players back in December 2020. As you can imagine, mobile players of the farming simulation game have been desperate to dive into Stardew Valley’s ultimate update for two years now, so it’s great to finally see the update ported over to mobile platforms.
Game creator Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) has quite clearly been working tirelessly on the port among other projects, and has made it clear on Twitter that he’s not best pleased about how long it has taken to release. Back in July 2021, Eric had to get someone new to port the update to mobile, and in December 2021, had to make the move to self-publish the game on iOS.
