Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow’s publisher still won’t credit Brenda Romero
Last month, veteran game developer Brenda Romero called out Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow – a bestselling novel about three aspiring game devs – for leaving her out of the acknowledgements page. Romero’s acclaimed board game Train inspired the in-book video game Solution, by the author Gabrielle Zevin’s own admission, which resulted in Romero speaking out. The book’s publisher Knobf Doubleday have now issued a statement refusing to credit Romero since “the only games listed in the author’s acknowledgements are video games.”

A decade later, the Lutece Twins are still the best thing in BioShock Infinite

A long time ago (in 2013, in fact) in a student-y house far away (assuming that you don’t live too near to Nottingham), I started playing the BioShock series. I’d flirted with the idea for years, but it was the release of BioShock Infinite that finally convinced me to take the plunge. And I can’t exactly complain: the series’ Rapture arc — made up of the first and second games, plus the prequel novel by none other than John “The Crow” Shirley — now makes up maybe 10% of my personality, having given me two of my favourite video games, my favourite video game tie-in book, and a front-running contender for my favourite video game locale all at once.
I just wish that, after all that prep I did for it, I’d actually liked BioShock Infinite a bit more.

Demi Lovato Rocks Out On New Version Of ‘Heart Attack,’ Shares Behind The Scenes Of ‘Still Alive’
10 years after Demi Lovato originally released her song ‘Heart Attack,’ the songstress has just updated the song with a new rock instrumental.
Doing away with the more EDM-infused production, Lovato gives the song roaring guitars and sweeping synths.
Originally, the song was a huge hit for Demi and would go on to become one of her biggest hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Tucson, AZ Neighborhood FLOODED IN BRIGHT NEON LIME-GREEN LIGHT & Time Stood Still
A young Tucson, Arizona resident describes the day that a bright neon lime-green light flooded his neighborhood and when time seemed to stand still.
I recently received the following account:
“I don’t know, if this was an alien sighting, or if it even counts as one, but it’s something I experienced several years ago, and just shrugged it off, not thinking that I could be involved in something like this.
It happened during the summer, 6/19/1998 at 16:00 in Tucson, Arizona, and my cousins and I were bored and so we decided to go see a movie. But before we left, I had to finish up a load of laundry.
Now, our house is the middle house in a cul-de-sac, so when we open our garage door, it faces the cul-de-sac and the street that leads into it. Our washing machine and dryer are in there, so when we do the wash, we can see the outside world.
After putting the clothes in the washer I opened the door to the house, to go back inside. The door, that when open, automatically shuts close, real fast. Well, I opened the door, and all of a sudden, my entire garage is flooded with a bright neon lime-green light.
I turn around and see that the entire neighborhood is flooded in this light. Everywhere I looked, everything was covered in this light, as if someone was holding a light, right over our cul-de-sac. I didn’t see any object, but after about 10 seconds, of being in the light, this huge shadow came out of nowhere and then flew off to the western sky. And then there was this weird wind (like a suction) and the trees blew along with other debris, to the west and then stopped.
The light “flew” off too, and everything turned back to normal. I turned around and started to walk back into the house. Now, all this time, the door has been opened. And if you recall, I told you that it was one of those sprung doors, that shut as quickly as it opened. Well, right then and there, the door shut, right over my left foot, ripping up the nail on my big toe.
The Dr. said, the nail would never grow back, because the nerves had been lifted out, but it did, and to this day, my toe has a nail. Something, my Dr. said was a “miracle.” I don’t know what it was that happened that day, but I always thought, that it had something to do with an alien. So, I was wondering if you can shed some sort of information on this, and tell me if you have another experience such as this, recorded.” NN
NOTE: There wasn’t much I could tell the experiencer. It does seem that they did have an otherworldly encounter. Lon

Apple Watch Blood Glucose Monitoring Likely Still ‘Three to Seven Years’ Away
In February, Gurman reported that Apple has made major progress with its noninvasive blood glucose monitoring technology, allowing diabetics and others to test their blood glucose levels without needing to prick the skin for blood testing.
Apple’s system apparently uses a silicon photonics chip to shine light from a laser under the skin to determine the concentration of glucose in the body. In Bloomberg‘s “Power On” newsletter, Gurman said that Apple “still needs to perfect the algorithms and on-board sensors” to bring the technology to market. Crucially, the company also needs to “shrink it down to the size of a module that can fit in the small and thin package that is an Apple Watch.” Gurman believes this process “will take another three to seven years at least.”
Apple began working on alternative glucose monitoring methods following its aquisition of RareLight in 2010. The company then used a startup called Avolante Health LLC to develop the technology at a secret facility before moving it to the Exploratory Design Group (XDG).
Apple has been conducting human trials for the past 10 years and seeks to be able to warn Apple Watch users if they are prediabetic to encourage lifestyle changes before diabetes develops. It is believed to be holding early discussions about getting regulatory approval for the technology.

After 35 Years, Dead Ringers Is Still Packed With Uncomfortable Chills

David Cronenberg’s name has become shorthand for skin-crawling body horror, and many of his films do lean into the extremely visceral. But while Dead Ringers tells a story rooted in the medical profession, its shocks are (mostly) more psychologically distressing than stomach-turning—with no potency lost 35 years after…

It wasn’t a good sign when Funko announced earlier this month its plans to straight up destroy somewhere between $30 and $36 million worth of its collectible vinyl figurines due to dwindling demand that’s tanked their value. But Funko’s recent decision to lay off about half of the staffers at subsidiary Mondo paints a clear picture of a company struggling to secure its financial footing.
Though Funko only acquired Mondo — the Austin-based nostalgic memorabilia outfit known for its small-batch movie posters and vinyl records — from Alamo Drafthouse last summer, The Wrap reports that “most of” Mondo’s staff, including co-founders Rob Jones and Mitch Putnam, were laid off this week. Along with the layoffs, Funko is said to be shuttering…
