Some new venture firms are so niche, it’s tempting to laugh off their focus
There are big, overarching top-down trends, and there are little-bitty baby trends that have a way of growing into bigger ones. A big trend right now, for example, centers on certain firms that passed out enormous checks to startup founders in recent years and drove valuations sky high in the process. It turns out this […]

Amazon has a tempting deal on the AirPods Max
SAVE $120: The uber-expensive AirPods Max are on sale for $429 as of September 1 — that’s 22% off the usual $549 MSRP in every color but one.
In the market for new headphones? With their astronomical cost, Apple‘s AirPods Max probably haven’t even crossed your mind. But this deal at Amazon might make them a little more tempting.
As of September 1, the AirPods Max are on sale for $429 at Amazon in every color but one (space gray, which are $479.99). That’s $120 or 22% in savings and on par with their last all-time low price.
Released in December 2020, the AirPods Max were praised by former Mashable tech reporter Branda Stolyar for their “excellent audio quality, easy-to-use controls, and good battery life.” Both music and podcasts sound richer and fuller than through the standard AirPods, and the noise-cancelling component does its job well.
Still, the AirPods Max are not perfect. Comfort-wise, they could use some work — their one-size-fits-all design does not, in fact, fit all. While Apple claims they get up to 20 hours on a single charge, you might have a hard time wearing them for more than a couple hours, depending on your head size and shape.
The $549 price tag, of course, is also a major downside (and was the butt of many jokes upon release). With a $120 price drop, however, they’re a bit more enticing. And as Stolyar said in her review, if they fit you comfortably, “then you can’t go wrong.”
