Street Fighter 6 Showcase goes live tomorrow – features Lil Wayne
A Street Fighter 6 showcase will be going live tomorrow! It’ll be just over 30 minutes long and will feature Lil Wayne for some reason. Okay!
Announced via the official Capcom Twitter, the showcase will be the final pre-release update before the game launches on June 2. We don’t know what to expect from this showcase at this time, other than it will contain “big news and announcements,” according to the announcement post, so we’ll have to tune in and find out live!
When does the Street Fighter 6 showcase go live? Well, the show is set to kick off at 3PM PT / 6PM ET / 11AM BST / 12AM CEST. Those two latter time zones will have to check in April 21.
Starting tomorrow, only six EVs will still qualify for a $7,500 federal tax credit
The IRS released a list of electric vehicles that still qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit after strict new guidelines, announced back in March, officially go into effect on April 18th. The list is very short, as just six EVs now qualify under the new terms. The updated rules pertain to EV batteries and cut out China as an approved trading partner, so we knew the vehicle list would shrink, as most electric vehicles use batteries manufactured in China or by Chinese companies.
If you want to get that full tax credit, choose from the Cadillac Lyriq, Chevy Bolt, Chevy Bolt EUV, some Tesla Model 3 versions, some Tesla Model Y versions and Ford F-150 Lightning. Many EVs lose the full credit moving forward, like the Nissan Leaf and Volkswagen ID.4. So check the full list before zeroing in on your next car purchase. $7,500 is nothing to sneeze at.
EVs shunted out of the exclusive full tax-credit club may still qualify for a half credit of $3,750, so long as they meet certain requirements. Three PHEVs also qualify for the half credit and three more qualify for the full tax credit, including models manufactured by Ford, Lincoln, Chrysler and Jeep. These credits are not about excluding hybrid technology and are all about making sure components are sourced properly.
Here’s how that breaks down. Battery components that are 50 percent made or assembled in the USA qualify for the first half of $3,750 and if the company sources at least 40 percent of critical minerals from the US or free trade partners, the second $3,750 kicks in. If a company meets one or the other standard, the vehicle gets a half credit.
While the list winnowing down to just six vehicles makes for a good headline, it should beef up as automobile manufacturers make changes to meet the rules. New EVs that meet the component sourcing standards will get added to the list and other vehicles will get re-added as manufacturers open new factories in the US and other approved countries. New trade deals could also impact the list of approved vehicles as time marches forward. However, these rules grow stricter over time. Batteries must be completely made in North America by 2029 to continue to stay on the IRS’s good side and get that full $7,500 credit.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s $15.99-ish ‘Max’ combo will be revealed tomorrow
Warner Bros. Discovery is getting ready to announce its combined HBO Max and Discovery Plus offering it will supposedly call “Max.” The media giant will officially reveal the service during a press event on Wednesday, which will cost up to $16 per month, according to a report from The New York Times.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav had been planning on bringing the two services together ever since WarnerMedia merged with Discovery last year, and now that time is closely approaching. The combined service will dump Discovery Plus’ eclectic range of content, including Deadliest Catch, Property Brothers, and (my personal favorite) 90 Day Fiancé into a single vat with HBO’s more high-profile offerings, like The Last of Us and The W…
Thousands of new mums on maternity leave to get a bumper £600 pay boost from TOMORROW – do you qualify?
THOUSANDS of new mums on maternity leave will get a bumper pay boost from tomorrow – here’s who qualifies.
Financial support for new mothers taking time off to care for their new-born will rise by £600 from tomorrow (Monday, April 10).
Over 40,000 new mothers will benefit from the bumper payment boost[/caption]
The government is boosting Maternity Allowance payments to help new mums cope with the rising cost of living.
The benefit provides a safety net for women before and after childbirth for up to 39 weeks and is designed to cover those who do not qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay – usually because they are on low wages or are self-employed.
Those claiming Maternity Allowance will see their standard rate, worth up to £156.66 a week, rise by 10.1% on Monday.
The payment boost is worth £15.82 a week or £617 over the 39 weeks in which you can claim the cash.
It means the new weekly rate will hit £172.48.
The payment boost is expected to benefit around 40,000 mums through their maternity leave this year.
DWP minister Viscount Younger of Leckie said: “We want every child to have a good start in life, which is why we are increasing our support for mums.
“This builds on our extension of free childcare for working parents from this summer, alongside an increase to the Universal Credit childcare cost cap and further help with upfront payments.
“These changes will help parents progress in work and earn a better living to support their family.”
Working mothers receiving the standard rate of Statutory Maternity Pay from their employer saw their payments rise by 10.1% on April 2.
But here’s everything you need to know about Maternity Allowance as well as how to apply.
Who is eligible for Maternity Allowance?
You could be eligible for Maternity Allowance if you’re not entitled to maternity pay, you’re self-employed or you’ve recently stopped working.
The following must apply within the previous 66 weeks of your due date too:
- You must have been either employed or self-employed for at least 26 weeks
- You must have been earning (or classed as earning) £30 a week or more in at least 13 weeks – the weeks do not have to be together
If you’re self-employed you must have paid Class 2 National Insurance for at least 13 of the 66 weeks to get the full amount of £172.48 a week.
If this isn’t the case, you will still get £27 a week for 39 weeks.
If none of the above applies, you may still be able to get Maternity Allowance payments worth £27 paid for 14 weeks.
You could get this if within the previous 66 weeks of your due date, and for at least 26 weeks, you were:
- Married or in a civil partnership
- Not employed or self-employed
- Take part in the self-employed work of a partner or civil spouse
- Doing work for the business which is unpaid
- Married or civil partnered to someone who is registered self-employed with HMRC and should pay Class 2 National Insurance
- Not eligible for Statutory Maternity Pay or the higher amount of Maternity Allowance
You can check your eligibility for Maternity Allowance or Statutory Maternity Pay using the calculator on Gov.UK.
If you can’t claim maternity benefits you might be able to get Universal Credit – here’s how to claim.
How much is Maternity Allowance?
Maternity Allowance is worth different amounts depending on your situation. The following rates will apply from Monday, April 10:
- 90% of your average weekly earnings (before tax) up to a maximum of £172.48 a week for 39 weeks
- £27 a week for 39 weeks, or
- £27 a week for 14 weeks.
How do I claim Maternity Allowance?
You can claim Maternity Allowance once you’ve been pregnant for 26 weeks.
Payments usually start 11 weeks before your baby is due and is paid every two or four weeks.
Mothers can still launch claims within three months after giving birth and will still be entitled to the full 39 weeks’ worth of payments.
You should be aware that the money you get from Maternity Allowance can affect other benefits you get, including:
- Universal Credit
- Council tax reduction
- Housing benefit
- Employment and support allowance (ESA)
- Income support
- Jobseeker’s allowance (JSA) – this will stop if you get Maternity Allowance
- Bereavement benefits
- Carer’s allowance
It could also affect the amount you get because of the benefit cap.
If you’re eligible, to get the money you need to fill in the Maternity Allowance (MA1) claim form.
You can do this online, or by printing it out and sending it by post – the address is on the form.
You’ll need to give information about your employment in the 66 weeks before your baby is due called the “test period”.
You will also need to include other documents when you send in your claim form:
- Proof of income
- Proof of a due date and birth
- Additional information
You should get a decision on your claim within 20 working days.
If you’re eligible, a form will be sent to you confirming your entitlement and asking you to confirm your last day of employment before leaving.
Other help for soon-to-be mums
You could also be eligible for the Sure Start Maternity Grant, which offers soon-to-be-parents in England, Wales and Northern Ireland a one-off upfront sum of £500.
You can get prescriptions and dental treatment for free while you’re pregnant and for 12 months after your baby’s due date.
Ask your doctor or midwife for a maternity exemption certificate (MATEX) to claim the free care.
Under the Healthy Start programme, you may be entitled to free milk, infant formula or fruit and veg if you’re at least 10 weeks pregnant or you have a child under four and you’re on certain benefits.
And here are nine ways parents can get free food, nappies and essentials for babies if they are struggling.
Behaviour Interactive’s build-and-raid FPS, Meet Your Maker, arrives tomorrow
Behaviour Interactive, the developer most widely known for its asymmetrical horror game, Dead by Daylight, branched out into new endeavours not all that long ago. At long last, players will be in receipt of the fruits of its labour; Meet Your Maker.
The post-apocalyptic game places you into the role of the Custodian of the Chimera, a living experiment who was created as a last resort to save life on planet Earth. Your main goal is to build your base and outsmart anyone who dares try to raid it.
This means creating an array of deathtraps, and customising your base as much as possible so that anyone who does take the challenge isn’t able to actually infiltrate it.
Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow’s publisher still won’t credit Brenda Romero
Last month, veteran game developer Brenda Romero called out Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow – a bestselling novel about three aspiring game devs – for leaving her out of the acknowledgements page. Romero’s acclaimed board game Train inspired the in-book video game Solution, by the author Gabrielle Zevin’s own admission, which resulted in Romero speaking out. The book’s publisher Knobf Doubleday have now issued a statement refusing to credit Romero since “the only games listed in the author’s acknowledgements are video games.”
Nintendo is showing off 10 minutes of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gameplay tomorrow
Nintendo is hosting a small Direct completely focused on showing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gameplay tomorrow.
Kicking off tomorrow, March 28 at 3pm BST/ 4pm CEST/ 10am ET/, Nintendo will show off about 10 minutes of Tears of the Kingdom gameplay on the company’s YouTube channel. It will be hosted by, unsurprisingly, series producer Eiji Aonuma. This marks the first time that Nintendo will actually show off the game in action, rather than through what appears to have been camera angles the final game won’t actually use. As is par for the course with Nintendo, the announcement didn’t share much more than that, so you’ll have to tune in to actually get a look at what’s what for yourself.
Back in February’s Nintendo Direct, we got another look at the game that offered a bit more of a comprehensive taste of what kind of gameplay features we can expect from the upcoming sequel. It showed new things like what appears to be customisable vehicles, rail grinding a la Sonic the Hedgehog, and a new kind of auto-targeting arrow. Maybe we’ll see a bit more of that in action tomorrow!
Nintendo’s Wii U and 3DS eShops shut down tomorrow
The Wii U and Nintendo 3DS digital storefronts are shutting down tomorrow, March 27th, 2023. While you’ll no longer be able to purchase games or DLC from either eShop, you’ll still be able to redownload the games you’ve already bought and play online for the time being.
Nintendo first warned us of the shutdown last year and started barring users from loading money into the Wii U and 3DS eShops in August. Sadly, this imminent shutdown means we’ll have to bid farewell to the hundreds of great digital-only titles available on either store, such as Dr. Luigi, Pokemon Rumble U, Pushmo, Pokémon Picross, and many others.
The closures will also make it impossible to purchase the full range of Virtual Console games on the 3DS and Wii U, which…
