IT can be difficult to keep on top of a busy house, especially if you’ve got kids.
But organisation expert and mum Barbara lives by eight simple rules to try and keep her home clutter free and make her life easier in the process.

Barbara took to her Finding Organisation TikTok page to share a video explaining the “things I do in my home to stop it from getting completely out of control”.
Firstly, she washes “everything that’s big in the shower”.
“I’ve been doing this since the kids were in highchairs, it’s just the most convenient way to do it,” she explained.
She also keeps towels at the top of her airing cupboard to ensure that her kids don’t get a new one out “every time they have a shower”.

Barbara is a big fan of using a robot vacuum cleaner to keep her floors clean, and decants everything in her pantry into clear containers with labels.
When it comes to clothes, she likes to try and sort them from the very first stage of the washing process, and then hangs them out on separate airers for each person.
One of her most controversial rules, however, is that Barbara never folds up her kids’ clothes.
“I don’t fold the kids’ clothes – controversial, I know,” she said, showing a drawer stuff with unfolded garments.

“And of course, labels – they don’t need to be pretty,” she added, referencing the neon yellow labels showing what each drawer contained.
Lastly, Barbara revealed that “shoes go in an open bucket because if it had a lid my family wouldn’t use it”.
People quickly took to the comments section to weigh in on Barbara’s rules, with one writing: “I don’t Fold clothes either. Hang their nice shirts but that’s it.
“Blows my friends minds. I’m like 2 and 1 on the way I don’t have time for that!”
“I fold my clothes… sometimes,” Barbara replied.
“And I fold my client’s clothes. But I have better things to to than fold my kids’ clothes.”
“Seriously I do the same!” another wrote.
“I hang up jumpers and cardigans and stuff but I have 3 girls!

“And they can never make their mind up when getting dressed, so all the folding I do just goes to waste so their clothes are in labelled drawers haha.”
To which Barbara wrote: “Right! I get super cranky if I fold and they just rummage around and mess them up.”
Other rules include keeping towels at the top of the cupboard so her kids don’t get a new one out each time they have a shower[/caption]
