Diddy is undeniably one of the most successful and revered figures to emerge from the Hip-Hip scene. However, equally undeniable is the narrative that has trailed said success. A narrative centered around payment – or the lack thereof – of artists he once championed.
Appearing on The Breakfast Club today to promote his many ventures (including a return to music with Love Records and single ‘Gotta Move On’), the mogul seized the moment to (attempt to) set the record straight about what he intimates is misconceptions perpetuated by disgruntled artists he once rocked with.

Addressing the negative hot takes about him, the Bad Boy Records founder said:
“All I’ve ever given [people] is an opportunity and more money than a person was making. So, when I hear or see things and I’m like ‘this vibe that they got going on me…like I’m Big Red.’ [I don’t understand].”
When directly asked by Charlamagne Tha God if he’s stolen from artists, Diddy replied: “Never!”
“People have this thing called the tap-out button. When the money is running low, you gotta run this hustle to find somebody to blame. I have all my receipts.”
He went on to add:
“Anyone that thinks I owe them something, send the receipts you’ll get paid in 24 hours.”
The 52-year-old went on to say of one of his loudest detractors and former protege Mase:
“I did one alum with Mase. How much money do you think I owe this guy? I did one album with him and he went on to become a fake pastor and con people. And then you gon’ let him throw dirt on the God’s name? I’m back outside fighting for us and I’m also fighting back for me. Mase owes me $3 million.”
