A&R manager, Psychotic Reaction Music, London
Salary: £25k – £35k depending on experience.
Hours: Full time, applicants should not have any other activities in music which may clash with their responsibilities to PRM. If you aren’t sure, please feel free to ask.
Applications close: 30th October 2022
Start date: January 9th 2023 (flexible).
Work: Remote, but based in London.
Psychotic Reaction is a boutique music publisher providing resources, services and expertise to help producers, writers and artists develop careers in music. We work with a roster of quality left-of-centre pop artists, writers and producers, currently Fabiana Palladino, Christian Alexander, Tex, Gabriel Gifford and Softmax. Nao is a previous alumnus. Warp Publishing administer our rights and provide worldwide creative services.
We are looking for a creative A+R manager whose primary responsibilities will be threefold:
• Find and organise creative opportunities for our existing artists, alongside our colleagues at Warp.
• Bringing in new artists, producers and writers, developing our roster and our catalogue.
• Finding opportunities to exploit and grow awareness and commercial potential of our writers and catalogue via our own resources and relationships with the wider music industry.
The main quality you will need is an obsessive passion for music and the people who make it, deep knowledge of the music world, and a strong sense of what music you’re into, and why. This is a high-pressure, decision-making role, and you will need to live and breathe music to make it work.
Ideally you will also be self-motivated, organised, self-confident and friendly, an excellent communicator, flexible, able to think on your feet, and to manage a project until it’s conclusion.
You will need some experience of, and contacts in, the London music industry and scene, but not necessarily in music publishing. The job could suit someone who has worked for or run a small label, or worked in management, broadcasting, live or studio booking, or similar roles where you have been in contact with the industry.
PRM is a remote business, without an office, so ideally you should be able to work and listen to music at home or elsewhere, although we would be able to provide desk space if necessary. Although we are remote, you will be expected to visit shows and attend meetings in London regularly, so London based candidates will be preferred. Although nominally you are expected to work a 40 hour week, the ability to be flexible, and from time-to-time be available outside of office hours and on weekends, is essential.
To apply for the role, you should send your CV, a covering letter telling us a bit about yourself personally, explaining why you are suitable for the job, and what you hope to achieve, and 3 ideas for new artists you are excited by at the moment (with an explanation why), to jobs@psychoticreactionmusic.com
Please feel free to email any questions about the application process to the same address.
Psychotic Reaction is committed to creating a diverse work environment and to inclusivity in the music industry. We will consider all applications without reference to gender, religion, race, sexual orientation, physical ability, or any other status protected by law.
