WE’RE used to seeing them nearly naked in bikinis and skimpy swimwear but back in Britain the Love Island lot look very different.
All of the class of 2022 have jobs – some more glamorous (hello, Gemma Owen‘s horses) than others (good day to Luca Bish‘s dead fish).
Here we take a look at what the villa originals did before finding fame in the villa – and where they could be heading if they get dumped too early on…
Gemma Owen
Horse rider / bikini mogul
We know her dad has a few quid but professional sportswoman Gemma is likely to be doing pretty well herself.
When she’s not dealing with Ekin-Su or rolling her eyes at Luca she is an international dressage rider – a job she’s done since she was 11.
She picks up a tidy sum with every wins and also owns a swimming-stuff company called OG Beachwear.
That doesn’t appear to have turned a profit yet. However, having the proprietor appearing in swimwear on primetime TV for the entire summer isn’t likely to hurt sales.
Andrew Le Page
Estate agent
When he’s not showing off his body in the villa, estate agent Andrew looks like Lord Sugar’s latest Apprentice in a suit and tie.
His basic pay is estimated at around £50,000 a year, but he’s sure to get a big whack of commission on top of that with every sale.
He’s from Guernsey but works in high-rolling Dubai selling property to the wealthy, Selling Sunset style.
No wonder he’s such a smooth talker.
Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu
Soap actress
The only Islander who can really bring their job to bear on the Island is Ekin-Su – who has been acting like it’s a soap opera since she started.
That of course is appropriate because one of her acting gigs is literally appearing in a TV drama called Kuzey Yildizi.
She is estimated to make £16,000 an episode as a soap star on Turkish TV, having boasted about playing characters including a glamorous murderer.
And it also explains why she delivers an EastEnders omnibus worth of drama each and every episode.
Dami Hope
Microbiologist
There’s a reason Dami used the filthy euphemism of a ‘pipette’ when he tried to talk about the boys’ bedroom antics.
He’s a microbiologist working in Dublin, Ireland and normally could barely be any more covered up in a protective suit.
When he’s not studying nature’s smallest objects, the villa favourite insists he’s a “verified playboy”.
He’s estimated to earn around £31,500 a year for his work as a senior microbiologist.
Paige Thorne
Paramedic
Lifesaver Paige has worked for the NHS for two years and pulls in around £30,600 as a paramedic.
The 24-year-old, who joined the service just before the pandemic struck, has promised to return to the job she loves.
She said: “I will 1,000 percent go back to being a paramedic. I love my job it gives me everything I could want from a job.
“I’m too much of a peoples’ person to not go back to something like that.”
Davide Sanclimenti
Business owner
Davide looks like he’s just stepped out of the modelling catalogue, but in fact he runs his own business.
He runs a shisha business providing “only the finest” electronic hookah products to restaurants and nightclubs.
Davide, as you may have gathered, is Italian but the company, S Deluxe Shisha, is run from his Manchester base.
He explained before going into the villa: “I’m good looking and I’ve realised since I first arrived in Manchester, a lot of English girls actually love me.”
So far he hasn’t proved such a hit in the villa – but it’s early days.
Amber Beckford
Nanny
London nanny Amber, 24, cares for children, earning an estimated salary of £28,600.
However, she made very clear when she went into the villa that she wouldn’t be mothering any of the lads – and she certainly hasn’t.
Amber insisted: “Because my job is looking after children, I don’t want to be looking after a child in the evenings and at the weekends too.”
Ikenna Ekwonna
Pharma salesman
We don’t have any pictures of Ikenna, 23, selling pharmaceuticals so here’s one of him in the gym, where he clearly also spends a lot of time.
Ikenna is estimated to make around £25,000 as a graduate, specialising in AstraZeneca. However, if he sticks at it he could be looking at doubling that figure.
That’s if he decides go back to medical sales rather than – say – cashing in on his Love Island appearance with a string of mega-money brand deals.
Indiyah Polack
Hotel waitress
Waitress Indiyah, 23, works as a waitress in a hotel where she earns an estimated £22,435 a year delivering meals to visitors.
However can also tap into even more with her large social media following, with more than 120,000 on Instagram alone.
The star has often posted sponsored content on social media alongside shots of her looking glam.
Most read in Love Island
Luca Bish
Fishmonger
Luca, it will have escaped nobody thanks to narrator Iain Stirling’s incessant seafood puns, sells fish.
That nets (yes, like that one) the heavily tattooed Brighton lad an estimated £23,400 a year.
However, The Sun revealed last week that Luca‘s company Fish to your Door Ltd has £183 in the bank.
Tasha Ghourie
Model and dancer
Tasha, 23, became a model after dancing – her true passion – work dried up during the pandemic.
Love Island first deaf contestant has modelled for Pull & Bear, Missguided, Pretty Little Thing and Boux Avenue.
She’s also did a very eye-catching shoot pretending to be a pregnant woman modelling maternity clothes for Asos.
