A LOVE Island final ‘curse’ was broken for only the second time in the show’s history tonight.
Usually the couple standing on the host’s left hand side goes on to be crowned winners of the show.
But tonight Ekin-Su and Davide bucked the trend and reigned supreme while on host Laura Whitmore’s right.
It’s only the second time in eight series that it has happened.
One viewer said: “The second place curse is finally broken, the rightful couple has won.”
Another wrote: “We are free from the curse that is Love Island phew, until next year.”

A third said ahead of the result: “Oh I’m petrified we need to left side winning curse to END TONIGHT.”
Viewers previously looked back at past champions and noticed the couple who stands on the presenter’s left during the big reveal are often crowned the winners.
Last year was no exception as Liam and Millie scooped the £50k jackpot after being allocated the lucky spot.
The theory even worked for the first winter series of the show, which saw Finley Tapp and Paige Turley take home the £50k.

In previous years Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham, Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay, Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey and Jess Hayes and Max Morley were all placed in the same position in front of the audience before being announced as the winners.
The only year it hasn’t been correct, until now, was in 2019 when Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea shocked the nation by winning after dating for just 12 days.
