As reported, this November brings with it the 40th anniversary of the game-changing LP – which is home to classics such as ‘Billie Jean,’ ‘Beat It,’ and its titan-sized title track.
Aptly christened ‘Michael Jackson Thriller 40,’ the special edition release of the project will include a bonus CD of rarities, demos, and more.
Now, in tandem with the launch of pre-order availability, Sony Music and the Estate of Michael Jackson have announced specific roll-out plans.
It’ll see the titles of the ten bonus tracks revealed one at a time, beginning after Labor Day (September 5) with the last track being revealed close to the double CD’s official release on November 18.
Furthermore, 15 additional tracks (which have been in a limited capacity in the past) will also feature in an expanded digital incarnation of ‘Thriller 40.’
And there are broader plans to ensure a seismic celebration of the LP – which won 8-GRAMMYs and forever changed the course of music, videos, and Pop culture. Single-handedly.
For, global pop-up events and activations are in the works too.
Unleashed on November 30, 1982, ‘Thriller’ has sold over 100 million copies and spent over 500 weeks on the Billboard album charts.
