MORRISONS has slashed the price of petrol and diesel as supermarkets ramp up their price war.
The supermarket chain has cut an average of 6p a litre from its pump prices over the last week.
It confirmed prices have been slashed at all of its forecourts across the country.
The Sun previously reported that Morrisons had been cutting costs at certain forecourts – but the change has now been rolled out across the UK.
Andrew Ball, fuel operations manager at Morrisons, said: “It’s the summer holidays and we know how tough the current cost of living is for our customers. So we hope this fuel price reduction will help motorists to save money at this challenging time.”
Earlier this week, Tesco cut the price of petrol by 6.5p a litre and diesel by 4.5p.
Asda also slashed its prices on Friday, meaning drivers at its forecourts will pay on average of 174p for unleaded and 185p for diesel.
Prices at petrol stations across the country have finally started falling in recent days after pressure on retailers to reflect a drop in wholesale costs
Retailers had been criticised for not not passing on the savings to motorists.
