A MOM-TO-BE says that her mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law don’t like the name she picked for her unborn baby – and they’ve urged her to change it.
But while she may have been seeking support on social media, her post has been mocked on Reddit, where commenters say her in-laws are right.

The future mom, 28, wrote on Reddit that she and her boyfriend, 30, are expecting their first child together in November.
“When I found out I was pregnant, we agreed on an arrangement: I pick the name if it’s a boy, and he picks the name if it’s a girl,” she wrote.
They were both allowed veto power if they didn’t like the name the other picked.
“We also agreed to choose a name related to video games or the geek universe, since we both share this passion,” she continued.

“As a big fan of Kingdom Hearts, it was obvious that the [boy] name would be Roxas,” she revealed.
The name has sentimental value to the pair, she said: “We spent a lot of time playing these games together with my BF during lockdown, and it’s one of my best memories.”
Since they learned that they are, in fact, having a boy, they’ve been referring to the baby as Roxas.
“But that was without counting the in-laws, especially GMIL,” she went on.

“We made the mistake [of] revealing the name before the birth to our families.
“GMIL hated it, even more so when she found out that I had chosen it. She said it sounded like a dog’s name, and that it was completely absurd to name a child after a video game, that we would end up regretting it, etc.
Her mother-in-law agreed, “and they ended up telling us that there was still plenty of time to change.”
The mom-to-be has since deleted her Reddit post, but not before a screenshot was shared in another subreddit – where commenters are on her in-laws’ side.

“GMIL isn’t wrong,” wrote one.
“I’m with GMIL on this one,” wrote another, while a third chimed in: “Grandma knows what’s what.”
“I’m usually not in mil sides but… I agree with her lmao. That’s such a bad name,” said one more.
“Get a fandom tattoo, don’t name a child after an easily identifiable fandom character.,” added another commenter. “You’re guaranteeing your kid will hate Kingdom Hearts because they’re going to get asked about it all the time.”
“Roxas isn’t even a real name… it’s literally made up for the game as an anagram. It’s like when people name their kid Khaleesi,” someone else argued.
“Children are not billboards for your fandoms. Name your pet(s) the more outlandish names; barring that, get a tattoo. If you’re SO dead-set on giving your kid a fandom name, give them a name that stands on its own independently of the fandom,” added another critic.
