What is Abrace?
Abrace is a smart bracelet for kids with autism that helps parents to recognise and regulate child’s emotional arousal. Their cloud solution based on AI is able to determine the level and the reason of emotional excitation with high accuracy – from 60% to 90%.
Abrace algorithm predicts increasing emotional outbursts up to 10 minutes, which enables parents to prevent sensory meltdowns.
“When an autistic person experiences a sensory meltdown, they may feel extreme confusion, panic and frustration. This is often made more difficult by not being able to communicate these feelings to those around them, such as parents, carers or teachers.
No one knows their child as well as parents, and only they are able to reach out in a critical situation and help to deal with an oncoming meltdown, but sometimes, even they can have a hard time. Our bracelet is a great tool that was made to accurately predict these situations and quickly alert about them and help carers better understand their children.”
How Does it Work?
When a person experiences stress, a lot of parameters in their body change. These changes affect the electrodermal activity (EDA), which is recorded by Abrace’s sensor. The data from the sensor is processed by Artificial Intelligence.
This algorithm is capable of learning and adapting to a particular human being which allows it to fit almost all people. After analysing these indicators, AI sends real-time information to a mobile application. A carer can monitor that information and provide the necessary help. Abrace attaches to a child’s wrist, just like a watch, automatically monitoring sensory input levels, without making the child uncomfortable or interfering with their day-to-day life.
