Assassin’s Creed Mirage is smaller in scale because the fans wanted it
Assassin’s Creed Mirage, set to release some time this year, promises to be smaller than the last few games, and fans of the series are the ones to thank for it.
Revealed in September last year (after a series of leaks), Assassin’s Creed Mirage was a welcome announcement among fans of the series. The last few iterations like Valhalla and Odyssey moved the games more towards the RPG genre rather than the stealth-focused gameplay the first game brought to the table. But Mirage is going to the series roots, and according to a recent interview from GamesRadar with Ubisoft creative director Stéphane Boudon, part of the reasoning behind scaling down is thanks to the fans.
“Mirage’s creation has been the convergence of several inputs,” Boudon said. “Of course, the first one comes from our community: Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla they are all great games with the promise to live an epic journey in a strong fantasy. Their scopes have been calibrated to fulfil those ambitions as they all embrace the RPG mechanics.
Baghdad will be “one of the main characters” in a “more intimate” Assassin’s Creed Mirage, say Ubisoft
I’m playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla right now, and it’s too bloody big. This is my second stint, jumping back in after playing for 14 hours when it came out in 2020 then abandoning it – and I’m beginning to remember why. It’s a pretty but largely empty-feeling time, with woefully repetitive mission design and characters I only have a passive interest in. It’s good, therefore, to see Assassin’s Creed Mirage creative director Stéphane Boudon make more noises about how the next Creed game will be smaller and “more intimate”.

Terrify medieval peasants by riding a Monster Hunter mount in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla
I expect the life of the average person in ninth-century England was a lot tougher than the fantastical future full of video games we inhabit more than a millennium later. Well, Ubisoft and Capcom have teamed up to make the lives of digital peasants even harder, by shoving some Monster Hunter World themed gubbins into Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Have a watch of the trailer below to see just how bizarre this crossover is.
New Assassin’s Creed Jade Gameplay Leaks | GameSpot News
Assassin’s Creed Jade footage has reportedly leaked online
Footage of a playtest of Assassin’s Creed Jade has reportedly leaked online, potentially showing off the mobile game for the first time.
As shared by Eurogamer, the alleged footage was shared to an Assassin’s Creed Facebook page, before later being shared to the Assassin’s Creed and Gaming Leaks and Rumours Reddit pages. The footage runs for around 2 minutes and 40 seconds, and appears to have been recorded on an Apple mobile device, though the person that shared it to the Assassin’s Creed subreddit claims it isn’t theirs.
If real, the short bit of footage shows off what looks to be some kind of invasion, and is obviously currently unfinished, as one moment shows the player trying to head down a zipline, but just can’t grab on the first few goes. It’s potentially from the start of the game, as it features a selection of basic tutorials like how to move and fight, though it could just be for this early build.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date speculation, news, and gameplay
The Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date may indeed be as mysterious as the assassins themselves. We know that Mirage is an homage to the original Assassin’s Creed games, bringing back the stealth-focused gameplay in a densely populated Middle-Eastern city. While it’s still an action-adventure game with a strong narrative focus, long-time Assassin’s Creed players will be reminded of Ezio’s adventures rather than Eivor’s.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which was announced in September 2022, is part of Ubisoft’s larger Assassin’s Creed series. Following the release of Valhalla back in 2020, it’s the thirteenth major instalment. Like other AC games, Mirage is all about fascinating historical settings, intriguing characters, and sneakiness – something that will hopefully place Mirage among the best PC games when it eventually releases. Whether you’re a veteran assassin or new to stealth games, here’s everything we know about Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
