How Bolt uses Slack to kill internal email
At mobility services company Bolt, there’s a saying: “If you aren’t on Slack, you aren’t working.”
Founded in 2013 in Estonia, the company—which offers ridesharing, scooter and bike rental, and food and grocery delivery services in 45 countries—now boasts more than 3,000 employees, all of whom communicate exclusively through Slack.
Speaking at Slack’s Frontier event in London earlier this year, Mathis Bogens, head of internal communications at Bolt, explained that the messaging platform is so ingrained within Bolt’s company culture that the organization has essentially eliminated internal emails.
Back in 2017, Bolt had about 250 employees, all of whom were communicating on Skype. Back then, Skype was based in Estonia and had a team of homegrown developers working on developing the product, making it an obvious choice for Bolt at the time. However, as the company sought to expand, it soon became clear that Skype was unable to keep pace with Bolt’s workplace needs and an alternative collaboration platform was sought.
Sonic Prime’s latest trailer shows the bolt from the blue hopping across dimensions
Sonic Prime’s latest trailer shows that the blue hog is going to be spin dashing his way across multiple universes, with plenty of redesigns of fan-favorites to boot.
Depending on your perspective, it’s a pretty good time to be a Sonic fan. Sure, Sonic Frontiers is far from perfect, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a real good time anyway. The next instalment in the film franchise is only a couple of years away too, and there’s that Knuckles spin-off series. And next month, Netflix is giving us a brand new show, Sonic Prime, which puts our favourite little quipster in quite the pickle – one where Eggman appears to rule various worlds across the multiverse.
Sorry, I should call them shatterspaces, like Tails does, whatever that means. An earlier teaser trailer did already reveal that Sonic would be travelling to another dimension. Though it only showed off one that puts everyone in a fascistic, futuristic city where all of Sonic’s friends are part cyborg (oh, and no one knows who he is).
Bolt of lightning zaps the sea in rare moment captured on camera
A BOLT of lightning zaps the sea in an incredibly rare moment captured on camera.
Experts at Nasa estimate that despite 70 per cent of the Earth’s surface being covered by water, just two per cent of all lightning strikes occur over it.

The footage over the English Channel was captured by Charlotte Chapman, at Portland Bill, Dorset, during Sunday afternoon’s thunderstorms.
The 32-year-old said: “I had been watching the storm coming in and managed to get a video and freeze-framed this amazing shot.”
Charlotte said: “I’ve recently moved back to Portland after living in Bristol for the past 11 years.
“And to be honest, all I’ve done is stare out to sea since I’ve been home.

“I’ve missed this so much and taken it for granted when I lived here as a child and young adult – hence after a quick weekend break with my partner, we both decided to move back home.”
