Welsh Rugby Union chiefs have even stopped it being played at the national stadium.
But concert organisers have included Delilah in a list of hits Sir Tom, 82, is due to perform at Cardiff Castle on July 31.
The controversial track was released in 1968 and lyrics tell of a jealous lover who stabs his unfaithful partner.
In the past, Sir Tom has defended the song saying: “If it’s going to be taken literally I think it takes the fun out of it.
“It’s just something that happens in life and he just loses it. The great thing about the song everyone picks up on is the chorus. I don’t think they are really thinking about it.”
Cardiff Castle is near the Principality Stadium where Delilah had been traditionally performed by a male voice choir at matches.
But it was dropped for this year’s Six Nations tournament, which began on Saturday.
Even the police weighed in.
Dyfed Powys Chief Constable Richard Lewis said: “For context, approximately two women a week are murdered by a partner or ex-partner. It’s time to sing something else.”
The song — a No2 single in the 1960s — is currently 72nd in the UK iTunes chart.
Concert organisers say the gig, sure to be a sell-out, will be Sir Tom’s first major show for 21 years in the Welsh capital.

Knock At The Cabin Review Roundup — Here’s What The Critics Think Of M. Night Shyamalan’s New Movie
The Sixth Sense director M. Night Shyamalan’s newest movie, Knock at the Cabin, releases this Friday in theaters. Ahead of that, reviews for the film have begun to appear online. Similar to many of Shyamalan’s films, review scores for the movie–which he wrote and directed–are all over the place.
Knock at the Cabin is Shyamalan’s first movie since 2021’s Old and his first R-rated movie since The Happening in 2008. Knock at the Cabin stars Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge as a couple who bring their daughter to a cabin in the woods for a vacation. Unfortunately for them, they are taken hostage by a cast of strangers played by Dave Bautista, Rupert Grint, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Abby Quinn.
These four strangers demand that the parents make a choice–to sacrifice one of the three of them–to save the world from the apocalypse. Every time one of them says no, hundreds of thousands of people die. As with Shyamalan’s other films, there will probably be a big twist at the end.
