Forspoken’s demo has players worried, but Square Enix promises the final game is better
The Forspoken demo has received a pretty mixed response, but a recent interview with the creative director has made it clear the final game will be different.
It would be fair to say that in general, people have been cautious of Forspoken, in part due to one pretty bad ad (that Square Enix itself admits the memes made about it were funny). The recently released demo has given fans an opportunity to try the game out for themselves. But over on the game’s subreddit the response has been pretty mixed, in part because of the side quests available in the demo. In a recent interview with Gematsu, however, the game’s creative director Raido Mitsuno has explained that the sidequests in the demo aren’t present in the final game (thanks, GamesRadar).
Talking about the demo the interviewer played at the Tokyo Game Show earlier this year, the same demo players have access to now, Mtsuno said “that was a specially crafted gameplay demo just to give a feel for the mechanics of parkour and magic. So that was specifically kind of fetch quest-like in terms of the makeup, like, do these five objectives and then you get to fight a boss. So the full game isn’t actually designed like that, that was just specifically created for that demo experience.”
Deus Ex Go, Hitman Sniper, and Other Former Square Enix Montreal Games Set to Shut Down
Deus Ex Go, Other Square Enix Mobile Games Will Be Unplayable From Next Year
Onoma Studios, previously known as Square Enix Montreal, is shutting down this week and some of its mobile titles will be going with it. Ahead of the studio’s last day on November 24, Onoma announced that Deus Ex Go, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, Arena Battle Champions, and Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes will be shutting down for good on January 4.
The games will be taken off the App Store and Google Play Store as of December 1, and players who already have them downloaded will be able to continue playing until the games shut down for good on January 4. Players will no longer be able to make in-game purchases as of today, and Onoma encourages anyone who made previous purchases to make use of them before the games shut down in January.

While it’s common for games to shut down servers or live support for older games, in this case the four titles in question will become completely unplayable as of January 4. The games include popular mobile puzzle game Deus Ex Go, as well as Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, a recent mobile title that released under a year ago.
Sonic designer Yuji Naka and two others arrested in Square Enix insider trading scandal
In September 2020, Square Enix announced a Dragon Quest mobile game titled Dragon Quest Tact. A small, relatively unknown studio named Aiming was working on the project. Some employees within Square Enix had heard this developer was working on a new entry for the beloved DQ franchise before the announcement…
Sonic co-creator Yuji Naka reportedly arrested in Square Enix insider trading investigation
An investigation into suspected insider trading by former Square Enix employees is underway, and Japanese news site Fuji News Network reports that Sonic The Hedgehog’s co-creator Yuji Naka has been arrested in connection. Naka is alleged to have bought around 10,000 shares in Dragon Quest Tact developers Aiming back in 2020 for ¥2.8 million (£16,800). At that point, Naka was still working with Square Enix on Balan Wonderworld.
